I confess I’ve come late to the Allmans. I remember Ramblin Man and Jessica being on the radio as a kid, but I didn’t grow up with the ABB. However, in recent years I’ve acquired some of the early stuff, and more recently, a live DVD of the ABB with Derek Trucks and Warren Haines. This has led me to Govt Mule and Derek Trucks solo stuff. Trucks is a freak, a true talent. Both he and Haines are “tone gods” AFAIC.

My favorite late night viewing is the Allmans. I think the current(?) line up remains faithful and respectfulto the original, and in the true sense, The Allman Brothers Band remains a class act.

Whos that bloke? What a wanker.

Randy, Ive got a DVD of Gazza playing at a blues festival in Canada IIRC in the early 90s, with whole big bad thing -and he pulls out the famous Peter Green 59 Les Paul. Depending on who you believe, Moore sold it not long ago for up wards of a mill. Not bad for an old crapper that’s had it head busted off and stuck back on….

Thanks for that.

Stuart

something a little different. Ignore David Palmer's crappy vocals. Dias' guitar work is sublime

Chuck Leval (sp?) went on to form Sea Level in about '78 and still plays jazz with the best.

Thanks for the early EC clips Nostatic! EC has been all over the place during his career (both ho-hum and jaw dropping), but his early years are the best imo (John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith) and then Derek & the Dominos. D&TD (with Eric trading licks with Duane Allman) is indeed what he's all about...doesn't get any better. BTW, I have a disc of outtake "jams" from those sessions that are phenomenal. I was bored to death at an EC show a few years ago when he had a string section backing him :(

Saw them live last summer, row 5 center. They were indeed a class act.

Thanks for posting the AB vids. If only Duane didn't go away so soon.....

Maxells I hope, if so, they probably still sound great! I remember Sea Level very well. but never saw them live. I'm not too crazy about the "new" ABB, but I did see Derek Trucks play his very first public gig approx 17 years ago (he was 9 at the time), and many times since... he is indeed a "tone master"!
