Last night I opened the door to my garage and was greeted by this fellow:eek:

Now I had a few choices that came to mind:

A) Shut the dorr and pretend I did not see anything

B) Tell the wife to place the old newspapers in the recycling bin located in the garage

C) Scream like a mad man and grab a shovel - Hack-Hack-Jack

Nahhh !

I just thought-Are my batteries charged up in my camera, where is it, quick kids - Get me the Freaking Camera Pronto

So after a few snapshots I swept him into a box let him back out into the neighbors yard:cool:

Now how about that tropical storm that hit Omar today?

Black Racer? If you were in Tejas it could pass for an Indigo snake.

I've only seen one racer and she did chase me. Not anywhere that big, but still unnerving to be chased by a snake. Funny, if you stop and chase back, they will avoid you. But, as soon as you turn, here it comes again. Who says they can't see?

Maybe that's a male snake and they get bigger, I don't know. Maybe males don't give chase like the females with little ones, again, I don't know. It would make a nice belt, AFAIC.

SHAZAM! I'm in Raleigh, granted he's probably harmless, but please don't send his slithering azz my way! Wife and kids would have a ***** fit!

I'll have to try the chase idea if I find another one.

At least I did not spot him while working underneath the car:eek:

That thing is cool lookin'!

I had a similar visitor this past weekend. It was about 6 feet long. Climbed up the steps for a closer look at us then slithered back to the field.

A .410 shotgun or a .45 auto with "snakeshot" works wonders on them. Some of them may be good but personally I can do without them...

Speaking of snakes. Has everyone seen the video being passed around of the young Indian or Asian kid being bitten, 4-5 times in the face and head by a Cobra? I really do not see how the kid lived but the video went for about 2 minutes with kid trying to grab the snake and people just standing and watching. Gives me the shivers everytime.

I ran into a 4ft copperhead on Sunday on the side of my house. That is the 5th snakle I have killed this year alone. The last one was a 6ft Black snake inside my garage (that one greeted my wife at the door)!!!

I looked over into the kitchen a few weeks ago and saw something wriggling on the floor. It was a little 1 foot grass snake. Cat probably brought it inside. I grabbed a towel (the teeth on those little buggers are sharp ridges) and asked my wife to open the door so I could toss it outside. She screamed/refused while standing on the kitchen counter.

In Pakistan, we had adders. I let the locals take care of those.

I've reached to plug in a toaster oven before, and just before I did I reallised their where two cords... I have bad eyesight, looked for just a second - and one of them started moving...

Was the tail end of a king snake snuggled on the counter... :D

If its a copper head - its dead, but king snakes are ok with me.

The only good snake is a dead snake.

I used to catch and keep the garter and milk snakes that were abundant when we moved in. I've caught a couple of black rat and larger snakes, but they give me the willies.

I'd kill, without hesitation, any snake I saw that was venomous, just so there'd be one less (one fewer...) opportunity for an accidental bite when I'm -- or my family/friends are-- walking around the lawn or working in the garage.

My wife got bitten by a copperhead, on her instep ironically enough, right where a nerve runs. Dropped a frozen gallon milk jug on her foot two days later, ouch. Took her two years to get over that, and it still gives her trouble.

I killed a lot of poisonous snakes when I lived in Tejas. Several in my idiot neighbor lady's house alone.

I had one like the one in the first picture inside my house about 3 years ago. He saw the wrong end of my machete. I dont like to kill these snakes unless they are in the house. The house is a newer home and it climbed through a hole that was drilled for the heating system. I mixed some epoxy and fixed the hole right away.

The next summer the same size snake got in. He saw the right end of my .22 magnum. Got him the first shot. This snake climbed through another hole that was too large for the line. It was the water line hole that runs into the floor for the ice maker on the refrigerator.

I have now checked for any drilled holes and fixed accordingly.

I was awarded some redneck award from my nfriends for being from Southern California and shooting my first snake in the house.

I don't really like snakes but I leave them alone if they leave me alone. Once they are in the house I believe they will find their way back and maybe bring some friends...like Copperheads or Timber rattlers.
