How about a book thread?
I just picked this up book from a local car model (scale replica) and book store called Yesterday's Collection (Scio Township/Ann Arbor). They just downsized their space and business in still very so, so I got the book 50% off, paid just $10.00. I'm not sure if Pelican Parts sells this one, if so I'll show you a little peek at mine and you can get your own.
I've not read much of it yet, just bought it for the pictures. I have an excellent Ford GT-40 book that I picked up from the Henry Ford Museum in Greenfield Village (Dearborn, Michigan) which I recommend, I'll post pictures of that soon. So what's your favorite car book? What's in it? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1181320789.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1181320841.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1181320922.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1181320937.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1181320950.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1181320960.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1181320979.jpg |
George, looks like a great book! Helga is back on the road, so I'll be at Munk's tomorrow AM for the detailing seminar. I love books almost as much as I love Porsches!

are there any more copies of that book left?

Readin' make my head hurt. Much rather kick back with a bud light and watch Fox news.

The guys at Yesterday's Collection http://www.yesterdayscollection.net/ said they get their books from http://www.motorbooks.com/ . Looks like Yesterday's just sold a Porsche Police car miniture on e-bay for a couple hundered dollars from a link on their homepage, I can't see the picture. They have a large 997 RC model for about $100, I's get it but my real 911 takes all avaliable funds.;) edit.......... Link to Pelican Parts books (some nice ones): http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/BOOK/POR_BOOK_bkpcof-detail.htm |
I have at least three books on the 944 (924/944/968) which is funny because the 944 crowd doesn't seem to think anything was ever written about the car.
I also have eight or nine Bibles all in different translations/study notes. Also picked up a vintage set of "Great books of western civilization" by encyclopedia Britannica off an Internet bookstore for $400. |
From an old post of mine.................................
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=248432&perpage=20&highl ight=ford%20gt40&pagenumber=5 This weekend I toured the Henry Ford (Greenfield Village Museum) and did the Ford Rouge Plant tour (F-150 assembly). While there I picked up this GT-40 book for $24.00, have the last paperback from the store. I don't know if this is the best book out there, but in my opinion its a very good book at a great price (value). http://www.marque.com.au/images/FordGT40.jpg |
I inherited my dad's 1966 first printing of Grif Borgeson's The Golden Age of the American Racing Car, which remains a massively impressive work, IMO.

Sounds dry, but a great read with many excellent, never before published photos: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1181491687.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1181493158.jpg Tim |
One of my first "Porsche only" books, and still a good one.
