So you guys actually believe the mileage on the speedo? I've got this bridge here in Brooklyn...

I bought it from the third owner in 10/04. Car had 49,xxx miles then. Can't imagine selling it. Probably leave it to the grandson.

For some reason, I do. Each owner I have spoked to said something along the line of "owned it for # years and put # miles on it"

It adds up.

The previous owner I just found said he bought it with 34,000 kilometers on it, which is 21,100 miles roughly. This was in 1996.
I have spoke to the later owners, and the figure they give for thier miles adds up very close.
The brand-new looking tires that are 10+ years old also suggest it...as well as the odometer readings on the paperwork I have for it.

In '94, the car had 25,000 kms (15,000 miles)
May '95, 29,800 kms (18k miles)
May '97, 39,000 kms (24k miles)
Apr '98, 41,000 kms 41,00kms is only 25,476 miles...

In Oct 1999, the car was in the US. Odo had been convered to Miles by that time, and a service sheet here says 28,568



In '03, an emissions sheet says 33,381 miles...

Each person that I have spoke to give numbers that support this. And the virtually nonexistant interior wear also support this.

My car ('80 SC coupe) has had 4 previous owners, I make five! It had 81K on the clock when I got it in 2001. Now has 127K.

3rd owner. 67000 miles.

my current 944S , probably around 5 or so previous owners judging from the history , mostly single owner in DE, then brought to NL , and could see 3 different garages in the record, then the dude i bought it from and who didn't drive it much...

2nd owner...I bought it with 7,000 on it's clock in '74. It's now about to pass on to it's 3rd owner, with 51,000 on the clock.

The more it's value increased, the less I enjoyed it. Wish to hell it was out of my garage...it's been tough to see it sitting there, yet knowing it's gone.

Bought it from my dad 6 years ago. He bought it almost 17 years ago with 67,000. I have no idea how many miles are on it now, the odo broke at 115K somewhere around 1997. What ever the actual number is..... it aint enough.;)

Bought with 82K, now at 98K two and change years later.

I'm the third owner (...the little tramp!) unless you count my nephew who bought it from the 2nd owner, never registered it, before taking it to the paint shop, committing to a full windows-out and new rubber respray and then falling in love with a nice black SC and selling my '76 to me while it was still in the shop.
First owner owned it 14 years
2nd for almost 15 years
I just passed 2 years ownership.
She had 123,000 miles and now has only 127,000.

Second owner of mine, about 100k...

Got receipts and paperwork from day one on mine, so know that the information is accurate.

3rd owner. 125k miles.

Thanks to everyone who answered my thread. When I found the car, it looked good, the PPI list was acceptably short, and it was exactly the color scheme I was after, but the maintenance records revealed what I thought were a lot of different owners.

I just wanted to get some feedback - this was the only thing that ever caused me any concern about buying this particular car.

I've had it for three years now, and it still just absolutely thrills me to drive it.

(Some of you might feel that with 7 different owners she leans toward the trampy side of the railroad tracks, but I like to think that not all of her previous relationships had what it takes to deal with a high maintenance mistress. Makes me happy!)

1...my dad bought it new 20 years ago, still in our hands today. The odometer is broken so it reads 65,390, but it is probably closer to 100K
