Yo Tabbydoll...

Any man of weath and taste should enjoy watching some of the world's best play a game, right? Right now, in Vegas, a line up of the best 9 ball players on the planet are having at each other. Yeah, a real life "color of money" scene.

So, did you watch any of the action? Gotta admit, you need a basic understanding of the game to appreciate what you're seeing...but ask a few questions to a nearby audience member & you'll gain a basic understanding. Bottom line, the game is all about placing the Q ball after your shot, combined with defensive play. Once making shots alone becomes easy, pool is a mind game, much like chess. Probably why Mark Twain called it "the greatest game on earth". To watch the best in the game is boring to most people, because all the potted balls look easy. That happens because the shooter absolutely knows where the Q ball will stop.

P.S: (edit) The REAL action doesn't happen during the tournament...it the true money games played after or before the tournament...keep your ear to the ground & you many find out where/when these games happen. Choose the right player, get into side action, and you just might do better than you can with any game offered by the casino. But choose carefully.

I played for years. It's an easy game to lose your life in. Life meaning time not mortality, though I suppose...

Len, these days I'd rather hang out in a pool hall than any early 911 gathering. You see, the hustles are more easily spotted in a pool hall.

I loved it as well, but it's an addictive thing. We would play 30+ hours straight all the time, you just get lost in it.

I would not be shocked if I return to playing when my life settles down/ retirement.

An old guy could do worse. Be careful though...some of today's "kid" players are phenomenal!
