Met a cool guy at a local Porsche event
I was in Waterford Hills, MI last Saturday attending a Porsche club event at Munk's Motors. I saw a guy drive up in a 911 Cabriolet wearing a Ventures t-shirt and I mentioned to him that the Ventures are one of my family's favorite groups of all time, especially my son Dan who is learning "surf guitar" and we listen to Nokie Edwards (the lead guitarist) on Youtube many evenings. Well, the guy tells me he just got off the phone with Nokie Edwards and he's the band's manager!
Jack DeFranco is his name and he gave me his business card and some Ventures guitar picks for my son. He was a very nice guy and offered to let Dan visit the local studio and play some of the Ventures guitars. Needless to say, Dan is extremely excited and thinks it's pretty cool that his dad (me) met the Ventures manager! Wow, the people you meet at a Porsche event, very cool experience for us considering how much we love the Ventures. My favorite song of theirs is "Slaughter on 10th Avenue". Anyone else here like the Ventures?

I think Dick Dale had his own band called the "Del Tones" or something like that...

I had this album as a kid. Apparently they did not knock me out as I never bought another of their albums.
