Barrett-Jackson Auctions-Best Place to Sell

Assuming you've got a vehicle worth "Stupid" money, is BJ the place to get the most for your money? They charge up to $1,000 entrance fee and 8% sale commission. It seems they get lots of people with more money than sense. Any other suggestions.

Hugh,

I thinl it would depend on the car. BJ has been selling fewer exotics and more muxcle cars and hot rods the last five years, If you are thinking of selling the Aston, I'd wager a different auction might be better.

I'd take a look at the sales reports from all the major auctions in the last year or two and see who seems to be selling what you have to offer. You might also consider a private sale. Lot's of the big-money Ferraris and whatnot change hands inside a small circle of collectors, without really ever coming on to the market in public view. Track down the people that deal in whatever you have to sell.

A friend of mine sold a 50's Caddy there for $225,000 and a Vette for $175,000 a few months ago. $80,000 profit on the Caddy. They went early one morning (7:30am) and bought another Caddy for $12,000. they were offered $35,000 for it that afternoon and $50,000 the next day. I think he enjoyed his experience there.

Hugh, I assume this is for the Aston?

Based in L.A., much smaller, and better with imports and exotics: Gooding & Co. www.goodingco.com

Or, the biggest: www.rmauctions.com

Yeah, its for the Aston. While I like it, I don't ever drive it, its hard to drive in traffic, its hot, no A/C, its expensive to get parts, and they seem to be fetching in the $200,000+ range.

That lightweight (one of six) will run at Pebble Beach that same week. If it brings $2.0M, Hugh's might look like a steal at, say, $275K.

Contact Monterey Auction Company at (519) 352- 4575 for that RM auction.

Factory lightweight DB4GT is a very different animal than my car. Sort of like a 74 regular 911 and an RSR, but alot rarer.

+1

No affiliation. I have attended a few of his auctions and I have met him. He seems like a good guy.
