Question F! GP ---- Been to Canada? Where to go?

Wife has bought into F1 in a big way, watching most races and gettin' into it.

She wants to go to a GP next season - thinking of the Canadiam GP.

Who has been to an F1 in the past 3 or 4 years?
Interesting locale?

Anything you have, fire away!

Just like Portland during the ALMS race weekend -
Pole postion and a front row seat will cost you a dollar at a time ;-)

So anyone go to an F1 race?

The cheapest way to see F1 cars in action is to go to a test day, the big snag with this is that they only really test in Europe but if your European vacation happens to coincide with testing at say Silverstone, Hokenheim, etc, etc. Its not very glam but you still get the noise and some of the spectacle.

I suspect the most reasonably priced races are going to be at places like Brasil, China, maybe Turkey and in Theory if you get a cheap hotel in France and then sneak into Monte Carlo early and find your self a vantage point (probably need to get there in the small hours) its possible but not easy to do Monaco for peanuts!

Of course when you factor in the air fare it might actually be cheaper to get a grandstand ticket at the race in Indy but were is the fun in that?

I just got back from my 13th trip to the Canadian GP earlier this week. I recommend it to anyone. Your wife only thought she had a budding interest in F1 until she goes to this event! Over the years I've taken several people who have since become big time F1 fans and even call me as early as February to confirm the next race date. A party-like atmosphere for the entire weekend......Montreal is beautiful.

Never an issue. In fact, the more obvious you come off as just another visiting American, they'll switch right over to English. Contrary to what most think, the Quebecois are quite frindly for the most part.

The best by far is Monaco, then personally Budapest, Montreal and down from there.

Nothing like being there...

Definitely Peal st. and Cresecent. We used to go every year. The local Porsche club would roll out the red carpet (literally) and then shuttle us to the track, it was great!

Old Montreal is okay, a bit touristy. We had local friends and had the inside track. One of my fav. cities in N. Amer.
