USGP - Warning potential spoilers

It's LEWIS in pole again!!!

And naturally, Alonzo does not look all too happy about it, although he's sitting pretty in #2 with Ferrari behind them in #3 and #4. Should make for a great race tomorrow.

Predictions for podium is Lewis wins, Massa #2, Alonzo #3 who stews for a while and starts blaming his crew, the car, understeer, the fact the planets weren't aligned properly and maybe his own mother.

This t-shirt says it all. I love it.

My prediction?

Hamilton P1
Raikonen
Massa

Fernando is going to retire this race. He has really bad luck in Indy and he is due for a big problem.

Where'd you find that shirt? I need one.

I had to trace through 3 websites to find the link to this shirt but, here you go, I laughed really hard at it too.

If I wore that T-Shirt I would probably be banned from the country.

It looks like Alonso made a mistake in the last lap of qualifying and could not improve Hamilton's times. This happened exactly the same in Canada. In my opinion Alonso is beginning to feel the pressure and is getting a little bit nervous.

However, FA made the best times in the free practice sessions and in the 2 previous qualification rounds. I think we can not dismiss a driver like that. Let's remember that FA won 2 titles from MS himself.

All in all an interesting race to watch this afternoon. My prediction is that Alonso will try to get past Hamilton in turn #1. If he can do it he will win the race, if not, ... well, it is Canada again.

Dottore 06-17-2007 06:05 AM

Does anyone know the racetime? Can't seem to find it anywhere here.

Neilk 06-17-2007 06:10 AM

Noon Central Standard Time. Not sure where you are Dottore, but if in the US, the race is being televised on Fox and not Speedtv. Some Fox affiliates have the option of showing an infomercial if they choose, so that may be the problem.

Neilk 06-17-2007 10:38 AM

Who got the feeling that Alonso was told to hold position? As much as I like Hamilton, I am kind of disappointed with the result. I would have rather seen Alonso and Hamilton duke it out. Did anyone notice Alonso's big swerve toward the pit wall the lap after he tried to pass Hamilton. Looked like he was try to say "Eff you".

sammyg2 06-17-2007 10:45 AM

Last year I rooted for MS, this year I root against hamilton.

CurtEgerer 06-17-2007 10:52 AM

African-American driver wins 2nd race in a row. The local TV sports guy (ironically, he's black ....) felt compelled to describe Hamilton's ethnic heritage by calling him "an African American driver". There are no limits on cluelessness.

That's pretty funny.

Hamilton did a good job (as usual). Congratulations to him.

That's f'n hilarious!

Good racing thru the field. Side by side thru the infield. In F1!!

Hamilton is the real deal.

Curt, LMAO, put brain in gear before mouth.

Bob

Um, why does his race have anything to do with anything? Why bring it up at all? Is it to prove a point, to gain advantage, why does the media (or anyone else) make an issue out of it?
For that matter, why is tiger woods closely following Hamilton's career, when he had absolutely no interest in F1 before?
FYI, both of these sports greats have one black parent. Why is it that no one calls tiger woods Asian? Why is hamilton described as black, not white? He's just as white as he is black. I'll tell you why, because race matters to most people, and not all of those people are white!

The reason I root against hamilton has nothing to do with his race or ehtnic background or country of origin. I root against him because of the fact that he is a newbie, out of no where, and he is winning while the drivers I like and have liked for some time are not winning.
Same as if a new kid showed up in the neighborhood and took over, no one likes that.

Well I quite like it. Nothing like shaking up the status quo a bit. And Alonso is such a miserable and arrogant sod - I kind of like to see his feet held to the fire by his own team mate.

CurtEgerer 06-17-2007 11:36 AM

I like the kid. Same way I liked Schumi when he first got into it. He's enthusiastic and doesn't seem to have an attitude (yet?). But I agree Sammy, why does his skin color hold such interest to everyone?

450knotOffice 06-17-2007 11:45 AM

Not to mention that Hamilton walked into F1's playground and seems to be taking no prisoners. He is beating all of the established regulars heads-up. Alonso is the two-time reigning champion and he is being upstaged by the kid.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Alonso may have just seen his last F1 title. I predict the kid will take it this year. Can anyone show me why he won't? He's the best driver out there in the best car.

...and I'm not even a McLaren fan. I'm a Ferrari fan. I wish the prancing horse were winning, but they're not, and I think Massa and Raikkonen are no match for either Hamilton or Alonso as drivers.

I wish Schu were back.

Porsche-O-Phile 06-17-2007 12:44 PM

His dad is from Trinidad I think, not Africa. Not to mention he's not "American", he's British. Cripes. PC is killing not only our society but now our language.

How can anyone NOT like Hamilton - great guy, personable, very generous with the support for his team and mechanics, doesn't let his ego dominate everything he says, etc. He's confident but has enough humility at the same time. Great guy - exactly what F1 needs for an image.

Loved him and Alonzo duking it out. I doubt Alonzo was told to hold position, and even if he had been, I doubt he would have. He flat-out screwed up and realized at that point he was going to make a serious mistake before Hamilton did and probably figured it was better to finish with 8 points instead of 0. He pretty much said as much in the post-race interview.
