That was "Troglodyte" by The Jimmy Castor Bunch. I thought it was sheer genius when I was 8, but, on reflection it seems my 3rd grade judgment may have been a bit premature.

*Edit*

There's actually a video. Kind of, anyway.

Right On.

Ryan, I think the word "Band" requires that someone either

a. Plays an instrument

or

b. Sings.

Actors don't count, my friend!

Was'nt "Brandy" done by Looking Glass?

I think you might be right. Too forgettable, I guess.

sammyg2 06-24-2007 08:05 AM

Bread? No way.
Maybe too soft for most, but in their owns area they were the best ever.

I went and saw a movie about "the band" in my youth. Hardest thing I ever did was to try and stay awake through that stinker. Talent? Sure, heaps of it. But forgettable would be the best description for that movie, except it was so boring and bad it cannot be forgotten.

nostatic 06-24-2007 08:27 AM

Are you talking about "The Last Waltz"?

Egad...that is a Scorsese film, and The Band is one of the greatest groups in modern music history.

Brandy is by Looking Glass, a classic one-hit wonder band. Great tune though...

The Beatles

Kiss

From this thread, it's obvious these groups are memorable for being the most forgetable.

How about "Nectar".

Yep, last waltz.
My commentary wasn't about the band, it was about the movie.
B O R I N G

I can't think of a single song the band performed, I can't recall the names of any members of the band, although I seem to remember hearing that it was made up of superstar musicians of the time. I suppose I could google it and find out all kinds of info, but I don't care enough to bother.

Now I could pretend to be musically sophisticated and praise the band as if it was the holy grail, but to me that would be a lie.

Like I said, the last waltz would be forgettible if it wasn't so bad.

Damn Yankees

rexav8r 06-24-2007 12:20 PM

Come on ....

What about "The Captain & Tonille" ??? (Did I spell that right ??)

-I mean they had their own TV show and ALL !!!!

Remember their skit "The Bionic Watermelon" ??

The song "Muscrat Love" ????

I feel like I'm standing naked in front of the whole gym class right now just by admitting this, but somewhere back at my parents house, I've got a Captain & Tonille album...

That being said.... I'll take a charter member slot with the "I want to FORGET Bruce Springsteen" group !!! Waste of gravity.

bigchillcar 06-24-2007 01:00 PM

the boss - i liked 'born to run' best and 'i'm on fire'..maybe 'pink cadillac' back in the day. yep. that's about it for me.

Tim

Is that Meg Ryan?

And my vote is for "Crash Test Dummies"...
