Brake job, 2002 Accord ??

Sorry, I know it's not P-Car & may get moved....

I've got a 2002 Honda Accord. The previous owner (Certified Pre-Owned Lease turn Back) put after market pads on it and though they have life left, they squeel like a MUTHA !! -It BUGS me !

Have any of you ever done a brake job (Pads all around & New Fluid) on a 2002 Accord ? Difficult ?

Hopefully the rotors don't need machined or worse, replaced.
(Visually, mine don't look bad, but the lady at Honda said they've seen after market pads warp the rotors.)

I've done the entire brake system on my 911, not to mention the whole rear suspension.

The local Honda dealer wants over $400 for the pads to be installed. More (approx $40) for new fluid. Then something like $138 per rotor if they need machining.

You should post this in the Off Topic forum and you would likely get friendlier responses. The OT forum is very active.

In any case, Honda brake pads are the easiest things in the world to replace...just one bolt and the caliper swings up so you can remove and replace them. That Honda dealer is smoking meth with that pricing. Pick up a Haynes manual at Pep Boys for the car...will definitely come in handy and is only $20 or less.

Best of luck.

Richard,
I did this on my wife's Accord. Absolutely no problem. No manual is really required as this is a pretty straightforward project. Her rear pads made quite a bit of noise although they had considerable life left. After replacement, noise was gone. I had replaced the front pads earlier.

Probably "lifetime" brake pads that last forever but chew through rotors. Easy job, 2 hrs tops.

I went through 2 sets of brake pads before I found some that didn't squeal: They were organic pads... I imagine that's an ugly tree.
