New to Me way to look at TV while traveling
A friend turned me on to this.
Go to winamp.com and download their player, then go to shoutcast.com and find a TV show or movie online and watch it. Music too from around the world. Right now, I'm watching The Matrix on line for free.

Try slingbox. Was watching the Today Show just a few minutes ago from London. $120 and works great anywhere in the world.

I set up the Slingbox for my old boss at Ford after he got transferred to Sweden and it worked well trans-Altantic and was very reliable.

Rumor has it that the rising popularity of high bandwidth applications (like slingbox) are causing problems for providers who have promised "unlimited bandwidth." Turns out that in reality, what you're paying for is "unlimited," but what you're actually getting is just "A whole lot, way more than you could have imagined using all at once just a few years ago." So the guys who own the Big Pipes that we all rent each month are starting to cry uncle, employ packet shaping, and generally try to limit people from using things like slingbox without saying "Don't use slingbox."
Neat stuff going on behind the scenes, you know.

DJ,
Have wondered the same. I spend a fair amount of time in hotels, traveling around the world. Miss programs from home and between Slingbox, Tivo and Joost can help that. Some hotels have asked if I was downloading something large or the like where I stay as they can see large data transfers from the terminal in my room. They can stop my access if I am downloading illegal things like bootleg movies but when I tell them that I am just watching TV over the internet they usually act a bit surprised then ask how in the world I am doing it! Clearly this transfer live video feed around the world is going to require more high bandwidth feeds.

It seems to be turned off today as some kind of protest about royalty fees. Don't know what's going on as I have only used it once or twice. Last night, I clicked on the left of their page on Shoutcast TV and got listings of TV shows that were playing.

Hugh...
Now we know! From www.shoutcast.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ATTENTION LLAMA LOVERS! THIS EMPTY PAGE IS WHAT NET RADIO COULD LOOK LIKE WITHOUT YOUR HELP! The future of Internet radio is in immediate danger. Royalty rates for webcasters have been drastically increased by a recent ruling and are due to go into effect on July 15 (retroactive to Jan 1, 2006!). To protest these rates and encourage you to take action and contact your Congressional representatives, we are taking part in the Day of Silence, by silencing our main page for today. We ask that you excuse the interruption of the top 20 station listings on this page, and ask that you take action to help ensure that our broadcasters aren't silenced. Please contact your Congressional Representatives today. Click the link below For more info please visit Save Net Radio

Did you see the related thread about a bunch of internet radio broadcasters shutting down today to protest royalty hikes? Figures, just as I started to get familiar with the concept.

Its back up. Open winamp and shoutcast and on winamp select "view" media library and it'll show in winamp on the left an area to select, go to "online services" and select "shoutcast TV", pick a show and watch it. Hmmm, can't seem to get it to play.
