What cool tool/gadets should I put in my truck?
Of course if I'm going to be forced to drive a truck I am going to deck it out.
What cool functional features have you seen on trucks lately? Ie. tool boxes, gadgets, etc. Already order a trans cooler with gauge. Install to come. |
I'd love to get a truck and clap it out in full regalia

Note to self, notfarnow is not cool.
:D I'm looking for techy gadgets. |
semi-truck smokestacks. J/K
1st - get the front windows tinted to match the rest of the windows- then GPS, a big rippin stereo system, bad ass wheels, dual exhaust (if it isn't diesel) If you want to go further, go to a powerboat race (APBA for instance) and check out what those guys do to their tow trucks. It's crazy. FYI - the cowgirl mudflaps "are" cool. When I become old and real fat you bet I'm gonna have a pair of those on my slammed GMC dually. rjp |
if you're a cowboy, get a gun rack. if you're a yuppie, get a wine rack ;)
Seriously, none. Leave it alone. If you have to ask us then you really don't need it. |

Terry, I can't remember if it's a diesel. If it is, get an EGT gauge. They can save you $$$ http://www.jakepalmeristheman.com/up...115-782198.jpg |

GPS is next.
I have been looking at Baja Chase trucks to see what they carry, race boat pullers are a better idea. I want to make a functional truck has a cool factor to it. Not hill billy, not low rider, but the leatherman tool of trucks. What can I say, I have to fix things that arent broken. Its in my sick nature. |
I guess it depends on what you intend to do with the truck. A friend of mine who does lots of weekend trips got one of these and it ROCKS
http://static.texashuntfish.com/user...nt-setup-2.jpg For $220, I think they are a bargain. http://www.adventuretrucktent.com/AdventureTruckTent.ivnu If you're thinking "leatherman", consider water tanks, booster packs etc. Some of the offroad guys build closed box section bumpers that hold enough air to inflate a tire. |
spray on bedliner. i like rhino. it gives you a slip free surface to do stuff on. get a winch, that is hidden behind a bumper. you will need lights.
wait, is this a 4x4? just checked...boat puller. get a hitch reciever installed on the front of the truck. that way you can handle the trickiest boat ramps with ease. install one of those hot shower attachments that uses the motor to heat the water. |

I'm thinking a small air compressor and tank mounted underneath the car could come in handy. I've seen them on trail trucks for airing up tires. ARB makes a very small kit. NFN, I like the tent idea. |
edited my post. above.
let me add. you will need some cool lighting aiming towards the back. that way you can load your boat after the sun sets. i once saw an under the hood light that lit up the engine when it was dark out. it had the coolest feature! you could pull the light out, and it was attached with a spool. the light had a magnet so you can pull it out, stick it to the tailgate, and light up the rear (or anywhere for that matter. i used it for a tire change in the dark). when done, it reeled the cord back in like a tape measure. friggen bad arse! it came stock on our first Z71 chevy. i have seen them aftermarket since. |

A pump like this(258$):
http://www.man-a-fre.com/parts_acces...compressor.jpg Mount it up under the rear bumper. I have a feeling you would need a tank to run air tools. |
So, what are you sayin' here? No bumpernuts???
|
I sure hope no bumpernuts.
I see them around here and always want to castrate. They were amusing for about 5 secs the first time I saw them. |

Rhino liner and a lightweight aluminum or ABS tonneau that's easy to remove.
