Commercial Pilots Please

Embraer 170? Never flown on one. Would you?

Operated by Shuttle America? Delta subside?

Not a prob. Go4it. Embrarer makes a good airplane, these days, most of the commuter guys are pretty sharp for no other reason than that they are flying all the time, haha.

Have fun! Pay no attention to how noisy it is inside.

Noise, I have a 4 and 7 year old. Compared to them everything else is crickets.

Thanks,

My wife flies the 50 seat version. The 70 seaters are newer. Shouldn't matter, but I feel better on low time planes.

I felt better when on a younger wife too.

Nowadays, a wife with some miles on her doesn't seem to have so many squawks as the younger models.

Scott,

They are the narrowbody version of the regional jet. Ok but not a lot of room inside. Long and narrow, so do not plan on bring ANYTHING large as a carry-on as they will make you gate check it as you get on.

I prefer the CRJ, the widebody regional jet as its a lot more roomy but thats me. The "jungle jet" is safe and will get you where you need to go. Bring ear plugs...

If you have the option, get on a CRJ as it has more room. Try both and you will see what I mean. Are you flying all the way from DFW to NYC on an RJ?

How about SouthWest and flying a B737? Has to be more comfortable than a regional jet??!!

I'd love to do SW as they fly out of ISP which is a great airport for me.

Half the distance of LGA or JFK, opposite direction so no rush hour worries and absolutely never ever crowded. It's an absolute pleasure.

Problem is no non-stops. DFW is only a 3.5 hour hop non stop. With 1 stop it can be 7 hours.

Besides, I'm just under 5'9", don't need a ton of room. I easily fit in an overhead

Scott

There seems to be a little confusion here, guys. The Embraer 170 is the new big jet that just came out a couple of years ago. It is MUCH bigger than any CRJ or Embraer 145 (which is what I fly). That model range comes in 170, 175, 190 and 195 versions and seats somewhere around 100 pax. It is at the pinnacle of airliner technology with Liquid Crystal Displays in the cockpit and fly-by-wire flight controls. Here are some USAirways Express EMB 170 pics:
