Anyone with a 1997 Ford Taurus?
I am replacing the left CV joints and was wondering if anyone has done this before. I have the wheel, caliper, rotor, and hub nut off. Now it seems I need to take the lower control arm down and then the steering column and push the halfshaft out? Seem correct?

Haynes book is very helpful on this kind of repair. I have a 2000 and seem to recall that the procedure you describe seems about right. But, with only 28.5 k on the clock, the front end is in pretty good shape.

Thanks Bob! Well I have the Hayne's manual and I am a little perplexed still. My lower control arm seems to be completely chewed up. Let me take a few pictures of it. Btw this is the left side and the right control arm appears to be perfect. It almost looks like someone took an angle grinder to the control arm.
Standby for pictures.

I am having trouble pulling the CV joint out. Is it just supposed to slip out?
