Crate banding? Securing wooden crates

I've got a wooden crate I need to ship to Germany tomorrow. About 33x22x22 inches, and about 150 pounds.

I've got it all packed up, but I can't seem to find any of that metal or nylon "banding" strapping stuff they use for that sort of thing to secure it shut.
Checked Lowes, Home Depot, the UPS store...nothing.

Anyone know where to ge that stuff? Otherwise, the freight company will be chargin' me for it.

There's also a tool you need to stretch/tighten the banding along with clamps. You're probably better off letting them do it if it's just a one time deal.

It wont be cheap, but you could call United Rentals and rent one. A packing and shipping store will have them also, but again, they are not cheap. Might be cheaper to shrink wrap the entire crate or to pay a shipping company to do it.

Harbor freight sells a banding tool and banding. The tool works great, but the plastic banding they sell leaves something to be desired. On the plus side, you can use any standard banding with the inexpensive tool.

Go talk nice to the yard guys at a local lumberyard. Daily, they band up lumber packages to be dumped off at construction sites. If you are nice, and offer to pay, they will probably do it for free. There is no SKU number in the system for that. Easier to give it to you that figure out how to charge for it. Banding is just part of their overhead.

Got a place no too far away, I'll give that a shot. Failng that, I guess I'll just let the shipping company do it.

Thanks fo the replies, all! :)

Second this recomendation. Double or triple band it and it should hold.
