St. George or Cedar city, Utah?

Anyone from there?

That's where I'm planning to retire to in the next 5 to 9 years.
I'd love to hear from anyone from there. Real esatate, changes in the community, etc.
I've been through there many, many times and it's some of the most beautiful country anywhere but I haven't spent any time in the towns.

I understand the bad feelings about Californians moving there but it's OK, I was born at University hospital in SLC so I'm a native.

I didn't say I planned to live there forever, only for about 30 years

Lets face it, everywhere on this planet was downwind of the nuclear tests.

Sammy, they both seem like very nice communities. I would personally prefer Cedar City, just because its further from LV than St. George. I wish I had jumped into the RE market there 5 years ago when I was looking. Things have really appreciated well. Are you Mormon? As you know, they are both heavy Mormon communities and fitting in might be difficult if you don't get involved with the church, although I'm sure most of the Calis moving in are definitely not Mormon. Brian Head and Zion are nearby, too. Very nice!

St George, Utah is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. My wife and drove through in 7/01 and I can still remember how gorgeous everything was!

Sounds better every timei think about it.
No, I'm not mormon but I grew up in SLC and I don't think that will be an issue. We have more in common than we have differences.

Although I don't share all of their beliefs I have a great deal of respect for the LDS church and their commitment to family and community, relatively high moral upbringing and looking out for one another. That's part of what helped me decide on that area.

Back when I was a kid about 85% of the population in Utah was LDS, now it's closer to 55% IIRC. Even back then I found that most of the mormon people I knew were very tolerant of other religions. I played on a little league basketball team that practiced and played games in the gym at the local LDS church. I can remember hanging out there in the summer with my friends at the youth recreation center, no one bothered to ask me if I was LDS or gave me a hard time.
Sure there were fringe extremists who pressured my parents to convert but they were few and far between.
