Anyone Like Me?

I tend to argue for religion around hard-core athiests, but around "true believers", I tend to be more agnostic.

I guess both groups being so convinced they have it right really pisses me off...

GDSOB 07-05-2007 12:29 PM

Lots of us in the middle considering lack definitive proof either way...

the 07-05-2007 12:38 PM

I'm sure there are a few, but it seems like most dislike you.

kstar 07-05-2007 12:45 PM

Like every issue I approach in life, I try to take the logical, reasonable approach. Religion and belief in deities are not exceptions.

I have let my emotions, both love and hate among others, interfere in this approach, from time to time. :)

Best,

Kurt

scottmandue 07-05-2007 12:45 PM

Sure I like you, we don't agree on a few political points but you seem like a pretty nice guy. ;)

On some level we are the same... I don't like to "argue" political or religious points but if someone wants to have a calm, mature, intellectual discussion I am up for it.

I consider myself a Christian but I am always questioning my faith and I get uncomfortable around "in you face holier than thou" Christians... and I am embarrassed at what passed on TV as "Christian" Two of my best friends that I have known since high school (thirty years) are atheist and we get along just fine.

Anybody who says they like U doesn't know U very well.

nostatic 07-05-2007 01:32 PM

Does or is?

Burnin' oil 07-05-2007 01:34 PM

Does it matter?

You wouldn't be a Libra by chance? I piss my wife off consistantly by being able to see both sides of an issue. ;)

legion:

No one is exactly like you.....You are unique.

M.D. Holloway 07-05-2007 02:05 PM

Chris, I like you but not in the Biblical sense...

TimothyFarrar 07-05-2007 02:14 PM

Sure Chris some of us are like you,

I personally practice the religion of undeterminism. The profound believe that you just cannot figure out the answer to some things, so why bother thinking about them.

Tobra 07-05-2007 05:46 PM

I used to always like to jack with my born again friends, I enjoy a good friendly argument/debate, nothig wrong with that

I like you and in this case I'm like you.
But I liked your old avatar better.

legion 07-05-2007 06:27 PM

I'll have to see if I still have "Samir" around.

Still, I'll switch it again at 10,000....

gassy 07-05-2007 06:48 PM

I guess nobody really knows until he or she is there...right?

Agnostic is a safe path. Kind of like declaring yourself a "moderate" or an "independent" politically.

I'm Scorpio. Doomed to many years of sex addiction...

But only if you believe in astrological crap...

Truth? I've been faithfully married to the same kinky broad
for over 32 years.

That's a sign of wisdom and maturity. The older I get the LESS I am certain about many, many things. With more life experience you see/understand/relate to more sides of an issue (assuming you are paying attention and have an open mind). You empathize more people's foibles, mistakes and situations.

When someone is absolutely, positively certain about...well, almost anything philosophically? I have less and less confidence in that person's maturity and decision making ability.

Oh....and I am a Sagittarius and I am ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN AND WITHOUT A DOUBT that astrology is the biggest pack of crap there ever was:D

trekkor 07-05-2007 10:37 PM

I've been meaning to ask you about your screen name.

I have my suspicions...
