Probably an Edsel. Apparently the public thought so as well.

Ok, wait, I take that back - most domestics from the 80s and 90s were completely uninspired. But at least they weren't ugly. Those trans ams are just plain fugly!

I know I'll get flamed for my vote for ugliest, because lots of people think these are beautiful, but here's my vote:

Christien,

Consider yourself flamed. I happen to think the Alfa GTV is a very good-looking car. In fact, I love that car. I know a lot of other people agree. While you are obviously entitled to your opinion, I would guess you are in a small minority on this one.

And as for the Camaros & Firebirds from the '70s, I submit that the following is a very cool & good-looking car. I want one of these too!

Agreed. That thing takes the biscuit. I shake my head each time one of those things drives by.

In 1964 - 1966, the Barracuda was a type of Valiant. (Also known as a Valiant Barracuda) The Barracuda retained the Valiant's lower body but used a fastback superstructure with a massive wraparound backlight and stubby trunklid. It came equipped with the Signet's bucket seat interior, plus a flip-down rear seatback and security panel that opened up the trunk area for carrying long items (the ads liked to show surfboards).

The second generation Barracuda became a distinct line for Plymouth, but still shared most of the suspension and drive train as the other A-body MoPars.

The third generation Barracuda finally was manufactured on on it's own platform with few shared components. Some would argue these to be the best of the Barracudas, but the "gas crisis" and new EPA guidelines effectively killed the car.

I was a MoPar nut long before I crossed over to the dark side. When I was departing Lowes Motor Speedway this past weekend, I was reflecting back on my years in American muscle. My Barracudas were a lot faster than my 911... so long as the wheels were pointed relatively straight ahead.

Another ugly car:

The late 70's were the worst for american cars. Compare the LTD, Monte Carlo, and Monaco. You'd swear they were clones with different badges.

I only have one word to offer here:

FUEGO

'nuff said. Thankfully...no pictures.

Then again, distinct does not always result in better...

The good old Hornet. My wife is in Denver right now and she just called and said she went to a huge AMC/Rambler national car show. Her cousin has a nice AMX in the show.

I'm home babysitting the new puppy. lol

My brother owned a Pacer (fishbowl) and a Gremlin X during college. That X was actually a hot rod for its day. Three speed on the floor and it handled pretty good. I still kid him about those ugly rides.

I've been looking on the web and found that the Rodius has been voted the UK's ugliest car: www.carpages.co.uk/news/britains-ugliest-car-13-10-05.asp

In other news Top Gear found this to be the ugliest car of 2007:

Wow

Those are some good nominees.

I submit this atrocity. Not one line flows, it looks like it hasn't finished cooking yet, or something.

Another one of the famous Bangle Bungles...

Ahhh memories! A guy in High Screw-all had one. He glued fake fur around the grill's center opening.

If you want Dart ugliness that made it to production, refer to the 1962 model.

Yea, I didn't look long enough for the picture of the real production horror. But the concept car was butt ugly enough. Thanks for putting up the real thing.

To me these things always looked like a basketball shoe. An off white one with the Converse Chuck Taylor logo on each side in the back would look cool.
