Very different from the Republican convention, that's for sure:

7:00 P.M. Opening: spit on the Constitution.

7:15 P.M. Pledge of Allegiance to the Corporation.

7:30 PM. George Bush cuts brush.

7:30 till 8:00 P.M. : male aids are held down and buggered

you get the point...

somehow I thought you were better than this Ron.

Neither convention will be fun to watch. Both will point out the lack of real leadership for the present.

I won't laugh now that I know it's a political commentary.

When do we get to "bugger" as you put it (assume this is having sex) the girls? Is that from 08:00 until 09:00? Might show up for that if Ann Coulter is one of the volunteers...

Regarding Ron's comments, how about we start holding all politicians to a higher standard, no matter which party? After all, they work for US or should be that is.

how about we hold OURSELVES to higher standards and not post stupid crap like Ron's above.

there are plenty of good political debate threads. This was nothing more than troll dung.

A lot of us are hoping that it happens and that Teddy stays in the car this time. Mary Jo Kopechne sure would like to talk to him as well...

Ron's post was funny and I appreciated it. If those on the left want to counter they should come up with something funny too- God knows there's plenty of stuff out there.

Better to poke fun at our differences and laugh at ourselves instead of acting like we're above it all or getting all pissy about it...IMO that's pretty droll.

BTW the one about George Bush's reactions to the three dead natives of Brazil is pretty funny too. If no one has heard it I'll be happy to relate.

there are no good political debates

"Mortgage credit markets aside, the main economic worry in the near term is Congress. The legislative pressure is all on the side of anti-growth policies -- hostility to bilateral free-trade pacts with Latin America and Asia, tax increases on private equity and high incomes, and perhaps a trade slap at China.

President Bush has signaled that he'll veto the worst ideas, including any tax increases or excessive spending. But a President with a 30% approval rating may not be able to stop everything. The best we can probably hope for through the 2008 election is a virtuous gridlock that lets the economic vitality so evident this week continue."

I really was hoping to see a few hands across the aisle when the Democrats won. It's a shame they've been more worried about appeasing the far left than making a difference. Their "6 for 06" has gone nowhere, their position on trade is just frightening (even Bill Clinton knew better than that) and the investigations of a lame duck president are so numerous (and counter productive) it's just unreal- 600 already????. And there are more earmarks this year than ever- some 32,000 I think....and I fault both parties there. When I think about it I get angry hence I like hearing the political jokes- there's a lot of truth in them.

"I was elected to reduce crime. That was the rationale for my being mayor of New York. They weren't going to elect a Republican prosecutor in New York unless they were desperate. And they were desperate: It was, 'We'll even give him a chance to do it.'"

This was the period of screwing stacks of deadbolt locks onto apartment doors in New York. Amid this, Republican Giuliani defeated Democrat Dinkins by 49% to 46%. This means that a lot of New York liberals, beset by the loss of physical well-being, went into the voting booth, pulled the lever for Giuliani, and walked out to tell their friends, "I voted for Dinkins."

This isn't an endorsement for Rudy Giuliani. It's an explanation for why this candidate, despite the presumed baggage, has polled strongly for months. In his meeting with us, Mr. Giuliani said something else unexpected: "George Bush's speech on September 20, 2001 is still the best road map for what to do about terrorism."

That's right. It's not the economy this time, stupid. It's terrorism. No matter how low George Bush falls in the polls the next 18 months, "what to do about terrorism" is going to be the No. 1 voting issue in November 2008 because the Glasgow/JFK/Fort Dix/Heathrow/Madrid bombers are still going to be at play in November 2008.

This may well be the election decided by the Worry Wart Independents. But don't be surprised if a lot of them walk out of the voting booth that day and say with a straight face, "I voted to solve the health-care crisis." Right. They also voted for Dinkins.

But kinda funny on it's own.

Obviously Rons list there, has a bit too much truth in the humor for the socialists to handle.

Jeez you're in a mean spirited mood today Shaun- you can't take a joke (even a pretty good one) and I guess you don't condone homesexuality either...

Personally I'd prefer an intern over a page. A little older and more eager to please if you know what I mean.
