Question Personal (business type) card?

My work has given me business cards so if I want to give someone my personal information I usually just write it on one of my business cards and give it to them.

My friend has cards he carries that he printed up with just his personal info on them... mostly to hand out to ladies he meets in bars... does the PPOT brain trust think this is cool or dorky?

I ask because as I was leaving work I bumped into a lady I used to work with and I wanted to give her my contact info but we were walking in opposite directions and we didn't have time or implements to write anything down.

You can't give your business card/number to potentials? Personal cards... sounds a little presumptuous. But hey, I can't remember the dating scene. Do whatever you need to do!

That's what I always though... but then again I don't causally hand out my business number/email... maybe I should ask my friend if he gets any call backs, he is a lot more aggressive than me when it comes to hitting on ladies.

My gut says personal cards are tacky.

My gut also says that it could tilt your hand on more than one occasion with the the ladies. Women like to create what-if scenarios. Having your card in their house or on their desk at work will plant a nice little seed.

You're funny and clever on the Board. Make your card that way and I think it would work in your favor.

Ladies notwithstanding, a personal card would be handy. Email, and other info you would like to pass along would be a snap.

Don't date, but my business card has my only cell phone number, because its an important way for anyone to reach me.

Put a business card together that has personal info, and says something like "business consultant" so it looks like your business card.

I have had 2 good friends that have gotten phone numbers with their name.

One had a 1-800 # and the last seven digits were his name.

The others name was John and he got a popular local exchange like 223-John.

Worked great for giving out your number.

I like Hugh's idea a "Consultant" type of company with all your personal info, so you do not seem so obvious.

I have had a personal card since retiring and they come in handy, also do some consulting so they fill both requirements. Nice to give to folks you would like to stay in contact with as well as have laminated for bag tags for luggage and golf bags, whatever. Don't give a lot out but have them for those special occasions. Since my wife says my handwriting sucks, it takes care of that issue as well. Haven't given any out in bars recently though.

Hey, I made up a batch in print shop back in high school... with movable type and a printing press... oh damn I'm old!

Imagine them letting high school kids play with molten lead nowadays!
