I live in the San Francisco area and what you are finding up in your neck of the woods commands a premium down here in the Bay Area-
I am a woodworker by trade and can tell you that Architectural salvage places are a racket down here. If there is enough to fill a container on a regular basis it would be more than worth while to ship it down here and sell it to the existing shops or rent a space and set up shop. Talk to your citys building department and get a list of buildings slated for demo since you need a permit for doing that and the contractor/ owner/s will be listed. Should be as simple as that. Then all you need is a bond for insurance to cover your crew when they do the salvaging. |
