Vitter was serving in the House when he came into contact with the escort service, which served wealthy men in and around the nation's capital for more than a decade. Political handicappers don't expect the revelations to have much of an effect on the 2010 elections, when the freshman senator's seat comes up again. "Voters will probably give him a second chance," pollster Bernie Pinsonat tells the The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune.
You could kill people and still get re-elected it seems.

Any bets on if the list has more R's or D's on it?

EDIT.................the downfall has started.

On Friday, Randall L. Tobias resigned as deputy secretary of state one day after confirming to Brian Ross of ABC that he had patronized the Pamela Martin firm. Speaking yesterday on "Good Morning America," Ross said Tobias told him Tobias's number was on Palfrey's phone records because he had called "to have gals come over to the condo to give me a massage." There had been "no sex," Ross quoted Tobias as saying, and that recently he has used another service, "with Central American gals," for massages.

Tobias, who is 65 and married, was director of U.S. Foreign Assistance and administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development. He previously held a top job in the Bush administration overseeing AIDS relief, in which he promoted abstinence and a policy requiring grant recipients to swear they oppose prostitution.

This Vitter guy has balls............ran on the sanctity of marriage.

“This is a real outrage. The Hollywood left is redefining the most basic institution in human history, and our two U.S. Senators won’t do anything about it.

We need a U.S. Senator who will stand up for Louisiana values, not Massachusetts’s values. I am the only Senate Candidate to coauthor the Federal Marriage Amendment; the only one fighting for its passage. I am the only candidate proposing changes to the senate rules to stop liberal obstructionists from preventing an up or down vote on issues like this, judges, energy, and on and on.” stated David Vitter.

Whatever Vitter paid this madam for, it's about the equivalent of jaywalking in Louisiana politics. He's a saint by comparison.

Yeah, but would the evidence stand up in front of a jury of his peers?

I dunno - maybe it would in front of a jury of strippers!

You have to be a member of the Wayne Madsen Report to read it off their site. File this in your rumor file until it hits mainstream.

WayneMadsenReport "has confirmed with extremely knowledgeable CIA and Pentagon sources that the former CEO who is on Deborah Jeane Palfrey's list is Vice President Dick Cheney. Cheney was CEO of Halliburton during the time of his liaisons with the Pamela Martin & Associates escort firm. Palfrey's phone invoices extend back to 1996 and include calls to and from Cheney. Ironically, in 2000 Cheney was appointed by Bush to head his Vice President selection committee, a task that enabled Cheney to gather detailed personal files on a number of potential candidates, including Bill Frist, George Pataki, John Danforth, Fred Thompson, Chuck Hagel, John Kasich, Chris Cox, Frank Keating, Tom Ridge, Colin Powell, and Jim Gilmore, before he selected himself as the vice presidential candidate. The White House saw to it that ABC/Disney killed the DC Madam's story before yet another scandal swamped the Bush administration. Cheney is departing Washington today for a trip to the Middle East, where he will visit the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and the USS John C. Stennis in the Gulf."

Crap Thom, how did you do that? I've been searching for those documents for the last 35 minutes!

They say if you want to hear some other potential list makers, listen to the last five minutes of the show on the podcast, I'm listening to it right now.

In the telephone interview she mentions Cheney as a regular in the 1990's and said there is no dates of peroids in the criminal case against her, but that anything past five years is past the statute of limitations.

I hope this image of the 2004 phone bill is not too large, giving it a try.

Cool, 20 documents including the Cheney years of 1995 and 1998................................ABC is going to look like A-Holes for dropping the ball on this one.

It has been well-known here in Louisiana for quite some time. That's the reason he did not run for Gov. It seems a bit odd that this comes just a few weeks after he was one of the strongest opponents of the Amnesty for Illegals fiasco. The thing that sets him apart from "others" in the same situation is that he "Manned up" to his wife LONG ago and they worked through it. He did not go on national TV and wag his finger and give "the sneer" and LIE about it. I agree that what he did is wrong, but I'd rather have 100 David Vitters than ONE "Katrina" Mary Landrieu.

Jim Richards 07-10-2007 05:45 PM

Good thing he manned up before Hustler mag outed him. Oh yeah, he's supposedly a customer of a New Orleans madam, too. What a playa! ;)
