I clicked on this thread expecting another Fiero abomination.

Now, this is a real replica...and apparently has some history.

Weren't the 917s built for "Le Mans" built on Lola chassis?

Unreal!

Why hasn't anyone ever heard of this car before? I'd think that would have been in all the magazines numerous times, and discussed here many times in the past.

The seller has an impressive list of cars for sale on Ebay. Personally not sure I could buy anything from him. His feedback has taken a couple of hits and he now lists all auctions as "private."

For me that is a large red flag waving that means that he is covering something up...

The 917 sure looks nice though.

That looks like the one that went at the Barret/Jackson a while back for 178K cough cough.......

It appears to be the Kraftwerks car.

Cheers

That is the same car I saw at the Mid-Ohio Vintage Grand Prix on July 1. I saw that it was for sale, but I did not realize it was a replica. It sure looked good -- it is a very long way from a the 917-replica kit cars of the 70s.

It was parked next to a transporter with several vintage racers -- it appeared to be an "arrive & drive" outfit. The 917 did not go on the track the day I was there.

I thought it was odd that it had a license plate. Someone mentioned the shift knob -- I noticed that too. I think they were wooden on the real cars.

I also noticed a small crack -- a few inches, maybe -- on the top of the left front fender, for what it is worth.

I was all excited to see a 917, but now I realize I didn't see a real one. I guess I have to wait for the Rennsport Reunion III.

Oh well...it was still a way cool car.

I can't believe the bid's that guy is getting on the car with the feedback history he has, hope they are using some kind of escrow protection or something.

I'd a/x it until comfortable with the handling, then track it once a month.

i really doubt that a 917 or 917 replica is suitable for A/X...
them fat tires, no power steering, and limited visibility...

it's not exactly what you call a nimble car to flick around orange cones and do trickery... it's designed for very high speed handling

Curent bid:
US $135,100.00

So much for trading the A.Z. house...

I watched the a real one run some demo laps up here at a vintage meet a couple of years ago. Looks like fun. Not much room in the cockpit at all, really tight if you are over 5'10" or so.

Looked good doing a 360 into the infield in turn one....... for some strange reason they had someone else drive it the next day for the demo....

Cheers

The car was at the Mid-Ohio Vintage Grand Prix. That does not necessarily mean the seller is "in Ohio". It as parked next to a large transporter with several other cars. The transporter could have been from anywhere -- I did not look.
