Moving to Las Vegas?

There is a possibility that we'll be moving to Las Vegas for a new job. Questions:

1. Which neighborhoods are best for 3-car garages, high schools, and shopping centers? We'll be renting for a year.

2. Is Henderson a good place to live?

3. Who's the best Porsche mechanic for our 911SC?

4. Where do the motorcycle canyon-strafers gather, and where do they ride?

TIA.

Bump.

Surely someone lives in Las vegas and can help with these questions?

Thanks in advance, guys.

Andras, what age group for schools?? Nevada and Las Vegas rate at the very bottom in public education .. private is good (Meadows, Las Vegas Day School, Montesori)

Summerlin and Henderson are the two most 'popular' places, but I guess will depend on budget (it is expensive here now), Henderson is a great place, of course it will depends on the exact location but in general all the Las Vegas valley (North Las Vegas aside) is good, you may want to look also at Boulder City.

Porsche; Carl's Place and Premiere Sportcar Service, no idea on the motorcycle related question.

Let me know if you need more details.

RED ROCK...for motorcycle riding and the road up to Good Springs..there is a bar where the Cycles hang out after a ride. Kyle road to MT Charleston

U couldn't get me to live in Henderson...blah...sure there is Anthem and McDonald Highlands and even the Lakes....but there are so many scummy areas around there...Also back in the day(cold war) there were alot of Exotic Metal manufacturers down in Henderson and guess where they dumped their waste?

Boulder is old & quaint but the back side towards Lake Mead is EXPENSIVE with Custom Homes..

Summerlin yep is expensive and upscale...close to town, abit too close if U ask me.

Then there is Rancho Circle which is close to Downtown...Guard Gated and its where anybody who is anybody in the state of NV lives. Nobody ever moves out of there only musical houses. It is an old area where the ELITE of LV first built their houses. Other than the Political factor I really wouldn't care to live there because the surrounding areas are well lets say not that appealing.

North LV...ahhhh NOPE except for Alliante which is a upscale Master Planned community...and in Alliante one should be very carefull about buying a house with Expansive soil...

East LV out by Nellis and south to Henderson...to scummy for me...

That leaves NW LV...not too far and not too close to the BS Lifestyle of LV. It offers the best bang for the bux, simply put it is on the edge of the expansion. The amenity levels are increasing fast in the area. Its new and mostly upscale. It has been likened to Scottsdale in AZ by the RJ newspaper.

That is where I decided to perch myself for awhile....

The good about LV is that the Amenity levels are high..shopping, entertainment, food, recreation facilities if U can pay the freight.

The bad is that it is a TRANSIENT TOWN....the Lifestyle is BS plastic fantastic. Its run by the Good Ole Boys who are so stupid that they don't even try to cover their trail of Graft and Corruption. They think its normal and how things are run, most of the Politicians after they leave office go to jail. LV in the end is nothing but a Dirt Bagger town with a Carnivale atomsphere. Hey maybe I should be a member of the Chamber of Commerce here in LV...Welcome to LV the seventh ring of He11.

Andreas, I am looking at Vegas too, just behind Phoenix on my list now. I went driving around a lot in Summerlin and Henderson. Also visited Jordi, though he's definitely in the high rent area;). I went there in Jan., rented a BMW 1200GS and had a SUPER ride out in Valley of Fire, where I am also getting married in October. Utah and AZ are very close by and there is some amazing riding out there. You know, of course, Moab is the motorcycle mecca and I think it's about 5-6 hrs. away.
