What to see in Vegas

Going to Las Vegas next week for the big wood working show and I'll have a little spare time on my hands. Not a gambler....

Anything that is a must see while I'm in town.

Hoover dam, take the tour
Shows, any show (I recommend any Cirque du Soleil and Blue Man Group)
People, great people watching place
Pool at the Palms
Any of the Ultra-Bars (check the new CatHouse at Luxor, Body English at Hard Rock among others)
Food, tons of great food at the Bellaggio and Wynn buffet, prime rib at Jerry's Nugget
'Teddy bars' many of them :)

Ping me if you need anything

Isn't the Ferrari store at the Wynn?

id10t 07-13-2007 05:18 AM

There are a few places to rent and shoot full auto guns...

jriera 07-13-2007 06:17 AM

Yes, Ferrari store at the Wynn ($10 admittance unless you are a Ferrari owner), Carl's Place and Premiere Sports Car for Porsche 'scene', many California tuners have moved to Las Vegas for cars and motorcycles including Renegade Hybrids. Check Exotic Cars at the Caesars and the car collection at the Imperial Palace

Four 'good' shooting ranges with a very ample supply of fully automatic guns.

Just let me know what 'tickles' you, per sure is available in Las Vegas!!!

I would skip Hoover Dam. It's a good hour or two traffic jam to get into the $7 parking garage and then walk a few hundred feet to AZ and then back out of there. I was hugely unimpressed and frustrated when I could have spent that time shooting guns or boozing.

Check out Valley of Fire - best kept secret. I'm getting married there in Oct. And go to Death Valley too.

You need to get Tabs, Stoney and Jordi together and "buffet" for a while!!

TerryH 07-13-2007 07:09 AM

Don't they still have guided tours of Hoover Dam? I remember the immense size of the generators, the scale of everything, and was awe struck... but I was 13 and it was 1969. I won the trip selling newspaper subscriptions. ;)

Rent a convertible and drive down the strip at night.

+1 on the valley of fire. We stumbled upon it on a trip to Zion last December. Definately worth a visit if you like mother nature at it's best.

That is mean :) .. it is July!!!, today will be a cool 107 (when compared with the 120+ last week feels good).

If you have the time, the Zion, Bryce, Lake Powell, Valley of Fire trip is a must.

And if you're really adventurous and want to feel like you're in an alternate universe, read up on Colorado City, AZ and drive out there. It's not far. Makes Juniper Creek in Big Love seem tame by comparison.

This is a nice place to visit and grab lunch.

All the rides on top the Stratosphere.

Rent a convertable, get up early and go to the Hoover dam, drive out to the desert area. It' too hot for Death Valley right now though. Most everything else in Vegas is artificial.

Just sayin' I was hugely disappointed by Hoover Dam and it ate more than two hours out of my day.

I went to Death Valley in July three years ago. Yeah, it was hot but I loved it and can't wait to go back.

Brew 66 07-13-2007 11:35 AM

Beetles Love is the best show ever!
Hard Rock Pool SUnday afternoon has a great hangover party... insane!

steve185 07-13-2007 11:45 AM

I would love to go back to death valley, it was amazing, the quietest place I have ever been.

(Sorry, too good a lead-in line; I couldn't help myself!)

scottmandue 07-13-2007 12:41 PM

Do they still have the water park over by the Sahara? I was told the showgirls like to go there to cool off. ;)

I don't get the whole high end bar stuff... not sure what makes a shot of grey goose worth $50 but whatever floats your boat.

I would much rather see Bryce/Zion if time permits YMMV.

Most of the big properties on the strip have some kind of free entertainment... the water show, the volcano, the pirate ship, the downtoun experience (light show), etc.
