An A-10 and F-15 lead by a P-51 in tight formation just flew a circut around my house in Lake View at 3,000 - 4,000 agl. Looked and sounded very cool.

It sounded like the A10 driver was very busy with his thrust to keep in formation.

Probably practicing for an airshow nearby this weekend. They did the same display formation here at the last Barksdale airshow PLUS had a B-17 and a B-52 flying together (talk about having to work 8 throttles)...you could hear the Buff pilot tweeking constantly and see the black exhaust in spurts while the 17 just kept lumbering along. Really left me with a big lump in my throat watching them in formation.

That's odd...I would have figured the F-15 would have been doing the "pedalling". :)

Nascar is in town. Might be for the fly overs.

Could also be part of the EAA Fly-In going on in Arlington this week (July 11th -15th)

We just had a Blue Angels show here at Willow Run Airport and these same type of planes also did a fly-by...

Oshkosh starts officially on July 23, but many of the warbirds meet a week early at various airports in the region to practice their routines for the warbird shows. A little early for that though with two weeks to go yet.

Anywhere there is an airshow, it is pretty common for the aircraft to go up and flog around. Some of it is to get familiar with the topography and some of it is for fun and some is to get people to ask why these particular aircraft are flying in their area :) (advertising for the show)

We have a major show here each year and we reserve the "Mount Baker Block" for practice and familiarization with terrain. This is the same airspace used to stage the performers in as they awaite their turn in the program.

Cheers
