Children model their behavior upon that of their parents, it goes to the genetic level.
Science has yet to determine the relationship between cogizance and chemistry. In other words science is in the Stone Age when it comes to what makes people tick. However it is not hard to figure out that repetition of behavior over a period of time will rewire the brian to accomodate that behavior. NOw if you start to build upon that accomdation incrementally over time with more changes in behavior you will eventually make substantial changes in the wiring or chemistry of the brain. That is going to be the efficacy of Thearpy.

Since we can't change the hardware, we might a well rewrite the software, eh ?
The purpose of therapy is to identify the aspects of hardware and software that control us, so that we may see the distinction and excercise control. Whether god gave you a tank or a yugo, both can be used to get the bacon or run over the innocent. Life or death, good or evil; choose. Therapy can give you the tools to choose - if you want them. Riddle. How many therapists does it take to change a light bulb ? Just one, but it really has to want to change. |

The configuration of the Hardware does change. By changing the behavior/software the brain rewires itself/hardware to accomodate the change in behavior.
