How does anyone on this forum really know what leaked or didn't? Was that 1 gallon of radioactive coolant or 100 gallons? I'm pretty sure they've postponed public tours for now and their website isn't going to be forthcoming with any details anytime soon.
Let's face it. They (Japan Nuclear Regulatory Dept. or somesuch) tell the press and public what they want. Too much at stake for the pro-nuclear supporters. We've heard similar "no problem" stories from Chernobyl and Three Mile Island. Let's see what the investigation uncovers before we rush out and purchase a thermo nuclear trash compactor. Sherwood |
we strap our water heaters to the wall in case of earthquakes, so why not nuke waste barrels? (mine is strapped to the garage). who's watching these guys?

Actually, it was a "drum" of low level waste. It fell over.

From the initial reports of a gallon of contaminated fluid, it's currently a 50 gallon drum. Hmmmm. Their PR dept. should get their story straight. It's always more difficult to corroborate if the facts aren't really known or revealed. Pardon my skepticism. Sherwood |
