In about 1 hour. If I have time I might stop by and say hello to Pat then run some mountain roads to my house.

I went over the 911 early this morning and she is ready to make her 730 mile trek back up to the fun roads and away from the heat.

Now I am off to get payroll and pick up some killer local smoked fish dip for Pat and Procon.

K9Torro - be on the lookout for a Red 911 Targa, at around 2 PM today.

I'll be sure to beep and wave. MM5 correct?

Higher elevations offer relief. It was 75 at my house in NC about an hour ago high of 82 expected. I'll take that over the mid 90's here.

We were in Burnsville, near Mt. Mitchell, last week and the temperature was perfect. It was listed at around 85 for a high but, the difference in humidity makes me want to find a job up there.
Early mornings in the low 60s make it perfect for a drive.

Just got in, I raced here to see the wife and kids and they are at the movies.

I skipped past Pats but am trying to stop off on my way back to Florida next week. I got out at 11 and really wanted to be on the road at 10.

Then a flipped and rolled mini van in Georgia backed things up really good. Columbia S.C at 5:00 is not a fun place to be either.

The temp outside right now at 9:17 PM is 68 degrees, I was actually chilly driving in which is funny considering I was sweating my equipment off coming up though Florida.

At least I got a nice tan

I detoured slightly and took the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville to Waynesville / Sylva fun drive on an empty road, I only saw 3 other car heading in my direction 2 were cool enough to pull into an overlook and let me cook on by the 3rd made me follow him, thank goodness I was only 2 miles from my exit. He was only doing 30 it was like crawling.

Its good to be back in the mountains.

I never saw a temp over 75 today. Mostly in the 60's and some dips into the 50's up high.

I met up with Procon and went for an early morning drive through 3 states on Sunday.

It was chilly out I forgot to grab a sweatshirt and did not want to put the top in so I pulled the rag I have in my heater vent and enjoyed the warm.

The nice thing about being out early on a Sunday morning is the empty roads. We covered a lot of miles in a very short time.

Here we are early on in the run.

After running down to South Carolina, then into Georgia, then back up to Highlands, North Carolina we stopped off for coffee and a muffin. Then set back off for the "secret road" that Jay likes to take.

I hit my windshield wiper arm by mistake just before Highlands, I was very happy to find a gas station and clean it off.

We did a good job at staying in front of 2 Motards that caught up to us when we got around a PT Cruiser. Then turned off on the fun road, after about a couple of dozen turns I felt like I was in a F1 race the car in front of me lost its engine. A huge back cloud shot out from Procons 924 and I could not see a thing, I had to brake and drop back to see the road.

It turned out that his engine mount came loose, when he nailed the throttle the engine lifted and the oil filter smacked the frame and broke its seal. It was quite an impressive smoke show and I was happy it was nothing too serious. We had to lock up his car and I gave Procon a drive home while he tried to find a tow. Sunday morning in the deep South is not an easy time to stir up some help. Only us heathens were not in church.

I am not kidding BTW if you called a tow truck service they basically said they were on their way to church and it would have to wait until the afternoon.

All worked out well in the end, Procons problem turned out to be minor and more of an irritation than anything else.

It was a fun morning and I am looking forward to doing it again in August when I go back up. Once I lock down the week I'll post up the day maybe some of you locals can come out and go for the ride too. Its a really good one and the best part is the total lack of cars on the road.
