But, you have to make a claim first and it has to be more or less denied. The SCC exists to resolve issue that won't resolve and other way. this is if you want to win a judgment.

I agree that the threat will probably help. But, even to threaten the company with a lawsuit, you have to know where to send the demand. That would be the same person you would serve with the papers. Corporations usually have a "person of service".

" Service should be made on a corporate officer or a person designated as an agent, for the purpose of accepting service, if the Subpoena is for a corporation."

Hurricane, thanks for the info. I'm looking at LCDs myself. So far, I favor Sony and I would use Costco to get it, if possible. Otherwise, on a credit card for sure.

Funny, I was in a Walmart once when some guy brought back a regular tube TV saying the sound quality was not good. D'oh. Anyway, they took it back. Maybe WM is good for something. ;)

Why did you bother getting an in-store warranty? Those things are worthless. At the end of the day it probably would have been cheaper and less aggravation to simply return the TV (or sell it on Craigslist and get a new one with whatever you got off the sale to defray the cost of a new one).

Just me, but I don't waste my time with that kind of crap. If I can't handle it/fix it myself, I get rid of it.

Just reviving because an update is due:

After missing two more deadlines to contact me that best buy set for themselves I have demanded to have the TV replaced with a new one. That was yesterday. Today they have finally found the parts that were supposedly ordered 5 or6 July and would be available in three to five days. Oh, at the end of July they stated they would start searching as where the parts were located.

Yep, the parts will be available after 17 August or 11 weeks after I started complaining that the TV does not work. I now have a demand for replacement in and told them I will not wait longer than next Tuesday for a response.

How many people want to bet that best buy will continue to push me off and refuse to provide service?

I feel your pain

Seems the big retailers do not give stuff about the customer.
My story is similar but with Fortress in Hong Kong. Took the sorround system home, notified them 3 days later once installed of the problem and they just said contact the distributor, its nothing to do with us. What a load of crap, they sold the defective product and I am supposed to jump through rings to fix it. In the end turned out all right after a few heated discussions both with Fortress and the distributor. I do not think my wife will ever come with me again on these problem resolving trips and the kids will never be allowed to!!

1- load tv into car
2- drive to local best buy
3- load tv onto cart
4- push tv into best buy with receipt for service agreement
5- go to service counter and start waving receipt around asking why your tv is still not fixed after months of grief and broken deadlines. do so in a voice that other customers can hear...though not totally beligerant.
6- drive home with new tv and enjoy.
