Draft track during the NASCAR race, real time CFD?
 

ESPN showed a new technology or maybe a gimmick during the NASCAR race on Sunday. It showed the air on the car, the turbulant air behind it, and the air on the next car. If this is real computational fluid dynamic (CFD) graphical output in real time, I think it's pretty amazing. Of course it may be a graphic designer's idea of what the airflow is, they didn't go into much detail.

If it is the real deal, I'd sure like to see it on F1 cars.

I think it was just graphics. They did not show the low pressure area (blue) on the car that was passing on the inside. The passing car should have the same trail, more or less.
