Ain't that the truth... His work opened my eyes and my desire for Liv Ullman. Certainly, he's off to another cinematic adventure.

Oh, I thought this was tribute to Tom Snyder, but Bergman was good too. ;)

Sorry Nostatic. I did not see this thread when I started mine. My apologies!

Of course, you make me proud honoring the guy. I would not expect Country of Hollywood to recognize his work.

Hollywood is full of pimps and whores. Too bad, his body of work is incredible

A great genius! RIP.

Bergman, Fellini, Truffaut and Kurosawa. The four post-war greats.

Here's a nice photo of the man:

Although being a Swede, i never really cared that much for the Bergman movies.

However this guy (death) in the Seventh Seal always scared me sk*tless

And now Antonioni! WTF is going on this week?

Reminds me of that old joke about the great director who dies, St. Peter is trying to talk him into making a film of heaven, Shakespeare will do the screenplay, Beethoven the score, etc., when the director finally agrees, St. Pete tells him that there is just one hitch...

"God has this girlfriend who sings..."

And now Antonioni! We will NEVER know what the merry-makers in "Blow-up" are all about now!

Actually Markus, the man had a global reputation for his contribution to filmmaking. Then again, I used to crew on a boat called Wild Strawberries. . .

Bergman is revered in this town. Seriously. The industry isn't as vapid as some of you think. There are some people with great artistic chops here who take their craft seriously.

Then there are the rest of them who make "look who's talking 2"...
