Most reputable journalism schools push a very liberal agenda (I have a cousin at the Columbia School of Journalism right now). So, a conservative in a journalism school has a choice: subjugate their own beliefs for the sake of graduation, or drop out and move on to a major more friendly to their beliefs.

I was following the Home depot thread and thought this post was appropriate over here also, apologies to the author if he is offended at my cut and paste:

"There are a lot of good observations in this thread, in and among statements more appropriate to a Klan rally.

Some people, [snip] despair over the state of the country today. Some of those people have decided to blame 'Mexicans.'

This is a similar discussion to all the anti-Paris Hilton threads of a month ago.

Americans need to go get a mirror. Americans let the society deteriorate by tolerating a millimeter less civility, an ounce less respectfulness, a nuance less dignity. Americans ignore graft and corruption when practiced by the party they support. Americans let their kids buy magazines with celebutards on the cover. And watch cr@p TV.

Americans are not fighting being diminished by the deterioration of culture and society. They are rolling over and taking it.

Here's a concept: take personal responsibility instead of seeking out scapegoats. Turn off the TV. Read a book. Encourage a child to read. Talk with your kids about who the real heroes are. And turn off the pundits. Think and research for yourselves. [snip] Paris Hilton is not spending trillions your grandchildren will have to pay for. The terrorists are not involving more people in American Idol than in presidential elections.

It seems to me as if a lot of Americans have lost the ability to take responsibility. It seems easier for some to slough off decades of societal deterioration on the least-powerful segment of the population."

We are in the preliminary stage of one of the greatest battles in history. That we are in action at many points — in Norway and in Holland —, that we have to be prepared in the Mediterranean. That the air battle is continuous, and that many preparations have to be made here at home.

I would say to the House as I said to those who have joined this government: I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat. We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many long months of struggle and of suffering.

You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: Victory. Victory at all costs — Victory in spite of all terror — Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival.

yup. Mirrors are good things.

If you think that media is biased, then create your own media. The rules have changed. If you think you have something to say, then get a blog and say it. If you just want to piss and moan, then do that (oh wait, you already are).

We are a nation of consumers, not producers. That is the problem. If more people created things, we'd be in better shape. People will complain about crappy art, but at least the artist had the balls to actually put themselves on the line and *create* something.

It comes down to guts. And this country seems to have lost them somewhere between Gray's Anatomy and American Idol. Passivity rules the roost. That is the true terror threat. The boogieman stuff is being used to control your minds and your pocketbooks. The "liberal media bias" is an excuse to not try.

The fairness doctrine is crap and should never again censor our speech. American freedom is being attacked from being PC, and over litigated into over reaching regulation.

How pathetic is it to celebrate our freedoms on the fourth of July, while my freedom to celebrate was renegaded to sparklers.

Little Jimmy never wins at baseball so we will give everyone a trophy and everyone can feel good about themselves...... Chevy can't sell cars anymore so everyone that makes under $30K will be required to buy one...... Sounds like Stalin himself endorsed this one....

and just what does that have to do with balanced editorals on the PUBLIC AIRWAYS?

BTW the FCC has sold out to the MEGA CORPS like CLEARCHANNEL who has some markets totaly monopolised with no other voices heard

I care far more about CORP-RATS controling the public airways
and not allowing any other ideas or views but the neo-conned
then a tit on TV in fact I would like more tits and less neo-conned BS
and more private stations and a ban on chains owning more then one station in a given market

and yes more balanced radio by law if nessicary
anything that hurts Rusti limpballs and his ditto heads
IS A GOOD IDEA
BTW why is that perverted drug user NOT in jail
