Rock and Roll!! Nice little earthquake in L.A.

Wee..... It's been awhile! Too soon to know what it registered, but probably in the 3's.

Dave

EDIT: Looks like it's a 4.5 at the moment, epicenter in Chatsworth.

EDIT: Looks like the tsunami warning in my fish tank has been cancelled.

i felt it in west LA. Thought it was the neighbors upstairs. Funny because I was standing at my window looking outside to see what *******s were standing outside my bedroom talking at 1am...

slodave 08-09-2007 12:10 AM

Yeah, it was like a number of big bangs, not really a roller.

ZAMIRZ 08-09-2007 12:32 AM

That was interesting (I'm out here in Woodland Hills btw, not La Jolla).

How long are you up here?

Porsche-O-Phile 08-09-2007 05:23 AM

Must've missed it. When was it?

I remember the 94 quake. Traffic was sure fun after that one. See you down in Arizona Bay

Im 30 miles from its center in Northridge....and I felt it. The whole building shook for
about 2 seconds. This is the first one that I have felt in 5 years of living here, but they happen
all the time, every day....

This was a 4.5
the big one is coming... :)

I haven't felt an earthquake in many, many years. Everytime I'm in Cali I try to keep a bit of attention on the ground beneath me, but I've never felt anything. I used to live in northern Japan, and there we used to feel really, REALLY mild tremors probably weekly.

scottmandue 08-11-2007 12:42 PM

Didn't feel it either, did you guys say 1am? I'll go check the seismograph.

00:58 to be exact.

BTW the west plate of the fault is moving north not west so we are not going to fall into the sea... although L.A. will be neighbors with S.F. in around a million years. :D

Mate, be careful what you wish for. I was in a 7.5 Richter quake, 18 floors up in a Jakarta hotel at midinight on Wednesday night. It went for about four minutes and I'd really rather not have had the experience, all in all.
