very cool, in the middle of a move myself...what a PITA but worth it in the end.
|
definately a pita, especially if the van rental agency screws up and you end up with a van 1/3rd the size you ordered... had to drive double, by the time i got back to return the van, and drop it off in center of rotterdam, i was so tired i was getting paranoid on the metro back to my old appartement...was really getting the jitters, seeing myself being mugged or robbed or something on my very last day in Rotten-Dam, then a nights sleep in an empty appartement, very rough and wake up to clean out the place... those 3 days were heavy duty...as i crossed the border in the 44, i did a most excellent SouthPark, Erik Cartman impression "Screw you guys, i'm going home ! "
that first morning waking up in the new place was instant happy, sat on my terras, fresh cup of coffee, no noise pollution, smog, and now i can just cycle to see anybody in the family, no more 240 clicks to see them...fresh bakery just 300 meters away, definately worth it in the end. |
well the military is moving my things...but still not easy and will take 60 days! So at the moment I live out of 2 suitcases and a air mattress...my back is killing me!

from the electrical plan http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1186871240.jpg that fireplace, not shown specifically in the plan but it's right about where you see C3 and "LIVING" we looked at it with the family , because we thought it must have been very modern house for the mid seventies, in a rural town like the one it's in, and the current owner, lady in retirement house, and her late husband were farmers, so it was odd ( not saying there aren't any "modern" farmers anywhere, but it's definately not typical ), when i asked around in the pub on the corner, 100m away, it turned out to be built by somebody in publishing(dunno what exactly, but he worked for a major publishing/printing company in these parts, could be writer, editor, anything really), and also in city politics there are few things that since the mid seventies are now impractical in it maybe the garage could have been a few feet wider, kitchen to spare room connection , slightly different perhaps... central heating with gas and water circulation instead of electric heating, during the night(cheaper rates), charging hot stones to release during the day.. but that's really about it... only core problem with this kind of design, is flat roof, many, many exterior walls and windows, more then if it had been a square block... and from what i can tell in 1 week, it's more sensitive to exterior temp change... it's not optimal in terms of temperature isolation... but i think in modern days , a lot could be cancelled out by more modern building techniques and materials... if i had to redo it now i'ed rotated bedroom 1 , 90 degrees, slap it to the left of bedroom 2 then lower( speaking relative in the picture) the kitchen, so the lower wall becomes flush with the living room wall then raise, move the top garage wall, up, so that one becomes flush with the top(relative again) wall of the bedrooms...and perhaps take the corner part back from the living room... |
SLAAPKAMER....ha ha sounds funny!

sounds less S&M gay then "master bedroom" i often hear on "mtv cribs" ;)
