Trouble with Search Engine (Not Pelican)
Recently, everytime I use Google or Yahoo search, no matter what I search for, it returns "Top Resources for...", i.e all the shopping links, like Shopzilla, BizRate, etc... I searched for Jimi Hendrix, and it gave me all the Shopping Links for "Jimi Hendrix".
Any idea what is causing this? I have Ad-aware, anti-virus and anti-spyware running, and I have tried deleting cookies and temporary internet files, etc... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, JA |

I'm sure that's true, Legion, but this seems to be something that just started happening. Even the Wikipedia result for Jimi Hendrix, when I click on it, takes me to "Shopzilla". Something is wrong here...this is not just Google forcing ads down my throat.

Get yourself Ad-Aware from Lavasoft (it's free) and run a scan. It sounds like some kind of redirect trojan.

See my first post...I have Ad-aware and have already scanned.

I have used Ad-aware for a number of years and started noticing that the internet was getting slower. Someone suggested I also run Spybot. It is a free download just like AAW. Spybot found a few things AAW didn't I now run both on a regular basis.
Also, consider blocking cookies (or at least setting IE to reject Google cookies). 99% of the time, cookies are NOT needed. I have mine set on block and I change it just long enough to get a cookie that I want (like Pelican:) ) |
