Neat. What makes these particular items so collectable? I mean, what's the story behind those particular pieces - historical significance? Edumicate me.

Rarity, condition and desirability.

svandamme 08-22-2007 11:21 AM

btw, last week there was a junk sale in town here
dunno how that works in the US, but here they close off couple of farm roads leading to and from a pub, about 2 or 3 miles in total, and people come offload their "junk"

do you offer finders fees if somebody scores spoons for ya?
there were plenty of spoons like those above...

Those are the very rare predecessors to the spork.

*****, man, this whole time I thought "spoon collecting" was a euphemism for nubile young women. You disappoint me, tabby.

Stand in line....I disappoint everybody, even Mother. She keeps calling me her "BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!" She tells me thats why she drinks, I guess 2 disapointments in life were too much for her...Daddy and eye.

I was hoping no one would notice the forks in the collection, but I just had to fill the spaces. The last time Mother came over and looked at the collection she picked it up and threw it against the wall, whereupon she went over and started to stomp on my beloved Spoons. She told me I was wasting my time collecting such junk and ought to make myself usefull by getting a job that pays real money. After she left I had a hard time straightening the Spoons she bent, a couple of them were so babdly bent I just had to replace them with Forks, that is until I can find suitable replacements. That is going to be harder done than said I'm afraid.

svandamme 08-22-2007 12:01 PM

so, why do you still let Mother in the house??
i mean, forks in a spoon collection... it's not right

Porsche-O-Phile 08-22-2007 12:07 PM

I bet you could stab her in the eye with one of those.

It would have been really funny if you actually put a Taco Bell spork in the mix for the picture :D.

Svandame,

She's his Fork toothed mother (InLaw). My mother in law better not stop on my junk!

Well they certainly are not new and I consider them to be cheap at any price.

The one on the top picture, top right is a bottle opener.

mattdavis11 08-22-2007 05:35 PM

Nice collection. I'm pretty sure there's a serving spoon, which now represents a dead guy that was once exiled to RI, in my mothers silver chest. I guess he was so well liked they only gave him spoons too.
