I made Life + OA. Some time after making Life, the troop changed leadership. New leaders son was his only priority and the rest of us were just a supporting cast.

Funny... thats almost exactly my story too. In my case the scoutmaster's son was a real piece of work. I don't know how he didn't get beat up every week...

That plus the other adults were either not involved or politicking too much (in the wake of the previous scoutmaster's departure) to set a clear vision for anything. Fun times but it left a sour taste behind.

Just saw this thread searching on "fuel line" - anyways I am a proud Eagle Scout. Started in Alaska (cub scouts and on) and finished up in Colorado. Fondest memories were camping, fishing, hiking, etc. in the Alaskan wilderness and attending the National Scout Jamboree in Fort AP Hill. I sure am glad that my dad "forced" me in finishing up scouts - learned many many life lessons that I would have never received if it wasn't for scouts.

Was that '97? I was there, Senior Patrol Leader of Jamboree Troop 238.

I have to say that to make eagle scout is a great job. My nephew just got his. I dont know if its all the work he put into it, or the length of time he devoted to it. He was in scouting a long time. I think if you put your mind to it, you can do it, like anything else. Its just shows the world you can do it sooner. Great job to all eagles.

Fort AP Hill

Actually it was in 1989, George W. Bush (the 1st) was there as the honorary spokesperson and the theme was Apollo (spacecraft). We first went to NYC for a couple of days, then to DC, and finally to AP Hill. All in all it was an excellent 2 week adventure for a 14 year old! I remember that the hot troop patch was somewhere in California - so much so that fakes were made to keep up with demand. You could tell the fakes from the inferior stitching. I worked hard and the Alaska patch was also hot so I was able to collect (via trading) a troop patch from all the states, including Puerto Rico!

My troop was 824 in Alaska and 109 in Colorado.
