Not so fast my friend! I may be an engineer, but I'm going into management!

azasadny 08-28-2007 07:44 AM

Owen must have just watched "The Royal Tenenbaums" where his brother's character tries to kill himself by slitting his wrist...

The Top 5 Reasons from the Home Office in Saginaw, Michigan:

5. Can't forgive you for being so mean to my good friend tabs.

4. Still stinging from your rejection of my offer to buy your '73 S for $150,000.

3. Some form of self-loathing or other similar complicated psychoanalytical reason which I do not fully understand but am trying to work through.

2. You hold the position of Gentle Board Curmudgeon that I so covet.

1. I watched way too much Three's Company growing up ("Whaaaaat?!? Chrissy's pregnant?!?!?")

Wayne: doI wonder if you'd agree that having a family/children contributes to keeping those reached-the-summit-blues away - after all, they say you never stop worrying about you kids and their future.

Sonicdb: Does Owen Wilson act, or does he simply portray his true persona in film? I wonder if he's actually an artist? Can he dig deep and actually portray someone he's not? That to me is what make a good artist/actor.

Getting and reaching the summit was / is more fun than being on top. I think that money solves a lot of day-to-day problems for people struggling to survive. However, I think that when you have enough money to relax and not worry about it, after a certain point it becomes secondary. (dunno - not there yet).

My advice Wayne is to stay with the Porsche Parts. People think IF ONLY I HAD ...fame and fortune I would be happy. When they get there they find that they are not magically transformed into being happy but still have to face themselves in the mirror. Also with fame and fortune comes a whole new set of problems, that of being inside the pressure cooker of fame and fortune. Many people are not equiped to handle the additional pressures.

Who knows...the only thing Ive ever seen in him where he wasnt playing
a goof or a slacker type was "Behind Enemy Lines" where he was this
slacker-type pilot that gets downed in the former Yugoslavia and has to
escape on foot to avoid being captured by the Serbs. Kind of an interesting
movie, but somewhat unrealistic and innacurate from a political point of view.

Owen was in danger of, or more likely in the middle of being typecast as
the cute, funny, shaggy blonde guy... fortunately for him there are a ton
of silly comedies being made these days, so he wouldnt be out of work
any time soon.

He was great in Bottle Rocket...

Since we're all throwing out opinions, I'll throw one out too.

I'll agree that rich people are "...all f-ed up".... as long as I get to add that poor and average income people are "all f-ed up" too.

Seriously, having money doesn't make you a different person than you were without money. It doesn't make you more able to deal with life's difficulties or stresses any better either. If you're the kind of person that would consider suicide when you're poor then you're the kind of personthat would consider it rich.

As for Owen Wilson, I know NOTHING about the man. I hope it wasn't from loss of a woman (Kate Hudson) that he did this. If so, he's got a LOT of growing up to do for a 38 year old man. Still, I am sorry he felt the need to go there. Other than that, and since none of us knows him, why do we care about him specifically? Probably LOTS of others tried it this week.

Can't even get the car's year right...but you're closer to the highest offer I received than you might think. After hangiing up on that offer, I called Evren.
He's getting the car for a lot less, money to me wise. But after Turkish customs bites him? Yeah...he'll have paid a LOT.

You see, my life isn't ruled by money or "stuff" these days. Also, one advantage of being an old fart is you don't have a burning desire to prove a damned thing to anybody. :D

stealthn 08-28-2007 08:34 PM

wahhh another filthy rich celebrity who sleeps with models, lives in a mansion, drives hot sports cars, is crying out for help waaaa

Give me break, he's got the money pick up the phone to one of the countless shrinks and get it worked out...gawd

Give me half their salary for the 3 months work they do a year, and I'll slit my wrists (trying to get at the oil pressure sender in my "down time") :D

Reminds me of the old song:

"Is that all there is?"

very immature 'the'. apparently you have been blessed with ignorance of this subject. be happy it is so and don't toss such lame statements around.

According to the news, it seems Owen suffers from Clinical Depression. If that is the case, then it doesn't matter how much money, success, pussy, or fame he has. The disease destroys people's internal emotional state regardless of their external circumstances - and sometimes all the therapy and medications in the world can't stop it. I hope, for his sake, that it isn't Clinical Depression because I wouldn't wish it on anyone...not even Osama.

azasadny 08-29-2007 07:29 AM

Me too!

Who in Hollywood doesn't suffer from "clinical depression"? They'll put him into "rehab" (resort) for a month, he'll get therapy, and he'll be all better. Just like Lindsey Lohan.:D

Por_sha911 08-29-2007 07:49 PM

"successful suicide" is an oxymoron.

(Racerblvd...that video is sick and wrong "pull your sak up"...
what kind of friends are those guys)

Moneyguy1 08-30-2007 07:57 AM

My first wife (deceased from a cerebral Hemorrhage) suffered from bipolar disease. Do NOT make fun of mental disease if you have had no experience with it. Her "downs" were self destructive. She scared the crap out of the kids at an impressive age by threatening to kill herself. THey are adults now and still have some really bad memories.

BTW...a good definition: Suicide is a short-term solution to a long-term problem.
