Post photos of wooden speedboats

The photo below (from another post) reminded me of how much I love old wooden speedboats.

Please post any photos you have of old wooden speedboats.

Thanks.

Here are some more....

Now we a talking about a cool thread!! Mine isn't a sweet boat, but is still cool and for sale

Plus, a friend who got me into these may be selling his CC, as he may not be able to use it much anymore

A great wooden boat site:
http://www.woodwindyachts.com

Woodwind Yachts buys old boats, and offers them for sale. You can either buy them as a project, have them restore it, or buy a boat that's already been restored.

$2700CAN... full restoration for only 9-13k!

They get it some beautiful "project" sailboats too. They always seem to have a nice selection of folkboats.

Pretty cool to follow the restoration diaries, they often go on for years.

Great photos -- keep them coming!

In particular, I love the old mahogany in-board speedboats. I would love to have one someday (in addition to several more cars, a Ducati 748, a Jeep Wrangler.... -- at least I can dream).

Can anyone recommend a good book about the old speedboats? Preferably one with lots of color photos & background on the manufacturers.

Thanks.

I have this one
http://www.amazon.com/Chris-Craft-Boats-Jack-Savage/dp/0760309205/ref=pd_sim_b_1/104-1037583-3658355

It is somewhat informative on the history of Chris Craft and is loaded with some nicely restored boats in each era along with some neat historical pics.

Here is one I helped my dad build. (he did all the design work as well) It was built as a tender for his 40 footer. Two cylinder two stroke with a jet drive, goes pretty good too.... We ripped a lot of wood into strips to build this thing......

It is now for sale complete with the trailer!

Cheers

I love wooden boats, but I don't think I'd ever get another one. Too much work. Even when they're tip-top, I don't know if I'd be comfortable going away for a week with one sitting at a mooring.

A local guy here has a beautiful old 35' wooden sloop that nearly sank at its mooring. He was sitting at the club when someone pointed out that his boat was going down. A plank had "popped". The whole boat had been refastened the year before.

I'd rather my neighbor get one. I could go over with a coffee as he refastens, sisters ribs and sands. Then I'd go sailing.

But alas, I am weak. I could be talked into a wooden picnic launch for sunset duty:

If it had steam power, I would be done for.

I bought the plans for this bad boy a while ago and I am just waiting for some free time and an open spot in the garage. The plans were somewhat incomplete and I plan to increase the cockpit a little so some planning will be required before I really dive in.
