Need Pennsylvania attorney re: parents medical bills (doctrine of necessaries)
A friends father is going to be undergoing cancer treatment and her parents are worried about losing everything (house, cash, etc) in the process. This is apparently a state specific issue wrg to spousal responsibility for medical debts and i would appreciate a recommendation for an atty in the Philadelphia area if anyone has experience in this area.

Erik,
If they are uninsured, let them know that ALL THE BILLS are negotiable. They might have to fight, but they should not pay more than 40% of billed charges. Medicare sure doesn't, nor do any of the big payers. They will have to research their bills and see what Medicare pays for the same treatments your friend's father is undergoing.
