Voted...hope he wins too. Most of the other inventions are pretty lame. Funny thing, his neighbor posted on another forum I'm on a few days ago trying to get votes. If he wins, internet forums will definitely play a role.

I voted for ya, but for some reason, everyone seems to love the giant clothes-pin, I think that's going to win.

I'd need to see some good, solid real world stress tests done on the product before I could vote. You can't just go around saying something is great just because it fills a market or because it looks good. I mean, the wheels might fall off if it got near a pothole.

Why not? Glad to help. After all, ballot box stuffing is an Oregon tradition now. Oh, I don't golf, so don't have a clue...

Are the wheels cast or forged?

Pretty good idea actually. I voted for it. I also liked the Strike 'n Swipe. The clothes pin think is lame.

hmmm, cast or forged .... Well actually, the tires are cast (urethane) But the wheels, those are injection molded --made with a few thousand pounds of pressure. . . like any proper wheel should be.

Yeah, don't golfers have some sort of sherpa'? . . what are they called; Caddies? I guess these products are for those who roll w/o an entourage. (not you Shawn) Anyway, Like that big cloths-pin for the clubs. aren't ya suppose to have some guy holding those for ya? ...or have a golf bag sitting there? I don't quite -get- that one. But, I think 'the ' might be right. Golfers get to be out on the green with a magical clothes-pin caddy. (for cheap)

Kinda funny. For years now, pool players have rejected cases that didn't allow the stick halves to be easily drawn out "sideways". That's why I just paid for a Jack Justis case.

Voted for your man. Looks like the shaft could still get bent/snapped at or near the hosel, so tell your buddy, until then....

Oh, he's out at third.

Yeah, Matt, for the proto's the "bag" portion was an "off the shelf" bag fitted to the wheeled base. The final design is much more structural.

The clothespin won and I think it was the right choice. I made my own a week ago when I first saw it. Great for morning or wet play. Good for him.

The "clothespin" is a really dumb idea for the following reasons;

1) Too small. Will get lost in a golf bag. I guess you've got to keep it in you pocket.
2) It only holds one club.
3) Looks a little unsteady-might require level ground.
4) It has a hinge and will eventually break.
5) The developer spent $40,000 developing it.
6) The EZ Caddy has been around for years.

The EZ Caddy;

1) Fits in your golf bag with your clubs.
2) Holds as many clubs as you would like.
3) Works on any terrain-just stab it in the ground. Your clubs will not fall. Ever.
4) Unbreakable.

How lame. I see no use for it either. Carry a towel to the green. The chances are if the dew is going to get your grips wet, there's going to be crap sticking on your ball too. If it was designed to keep you from having to bend over to grab your club, try being a little more resourceful. I'd buy the bag first, even if the clothes pin cost $.25.

Geez Moses, you are so harsh on peoples products.

ducking.

Seriously, good analysis. "Existing product" is a biggie. (so many must have glossed over that) As you so rightly point out it doesn't do anything better than existing product, with the possible exception of weight. (of course if you have a ClubGlider, that's no big deal ) ..oh, and if you have a bag of chips that need a clip...

I'm hoping his development costs ($40k) include tooling to squirt those things out in massive numbers.

btw, the guy gets an infomercial for his product. That ought to be a snoozer.

More to Moses' point. if you go to www.ClubCaddy.com you will see existing product (w/ the same name clothes-pin guys wants to use) --poke it into the turf, holds a few clubs, $14.95.

I appreciate the effort anyway.

Btw, Gary (CG inventor) had the big retailer (GolfSmith) jones'n for his product a early on. (As did other finalist, I expect) So really, all the inventors made out great. Lot's a free publicity, as well as deals with resellers and mfg's.

The other great thing about this competition is that it motivated a whole lot of guys to 'make it happen.' Gary, I know had this idea 3+ years ago. Yet it wasn't until the judges (Stina - the "Simon" of the group) was wow'd, that he really got going again. He resurfaced at our design studio just a couple months ago, where we refined his product, as much as he would let us.

I'm really liking these inventor shows. It's great to see more focus on innovative hardware, in this sea of new mediocre software. Maybe these shows will motivate some kids to think beyond video games.

Hmm, I disagree

1) Small is good, clips to the outside of your bag or towel. No issues with getting lost.
2) Holds as many clubs as you wish, you lean one against the other...
3) It's not unsteady, the one I made works great and I imagine his is better.
4) Not sure about the hinge, I doubt it's a real issue as it's really a spring joint and therefore very hardy.
5) $40k is nothing in product development, literally. Ask island what the golf bag guy has into his
6) The club caddy looks like a geriatric device, embarrassing to use. Kind of like a pull cart. It's way too big and noticeable. The clip is small, effective and discreet.

I like it for keeping the grips dry period, I don't mind bending over. If you guys play in the morning much you know what I mean. A towel doesn't cut it vs a truly dry grip.

I would never buy the club caddy as it just looks like it's there to keep me from having to bend over, embarrassing to use/too obvious. Just me.....and the the majority of the voters I guess

BTW, the bag is nice but I don't travel to play so it doesn't hit home for me.
