Dirty power?

I just got off the phone with HP, our desktop needs to go in due to a bad network card. I have also gone through 'gulp' numerous HP harddrives on my old laptop and had to replace the computer. My Sharp LCD TV's sound doesnt work (2nd time in for repair) I have had my digital cable box replaced and recently had my internet cable modem replaced. My phone lines have died numerous times. This has all taken place in the last 3 years in our new house. I have 3 thoughts here; 1. my luck sucks 2. all recent tech products suck 3. I am getting power surges or dips and this is causing issues

what do you think?

Probably a combination of the three.

I'd call the power utility and see if they'll monitor. Good luck.

We had much the same thing happen in several countries overseas. Got a power regulator that balanced the power up and down, as well as the cycles. Never had any problems after that.

One problem is that a laptop usually does not suffer any issues as the power supply/recharger unit usually filters the power somewhat.

Worth checking anyway to see how your system is behaving. Any lighting in the area? Sure that the main feed is grounded properly or house does not have a ground issue?

I think I might look into something like this

FWIW, any equipment is plugged into decent powerbars/surge protectors. Despite the $50,000 coverage I think they are fairly useless.
