Syria/Iran Chemical Weapons accident

It has been reported that an accident occurred while preparing a chemical payload for launch on a Scud missile. Maybe now the truth will come to light about the whereabouts of WMD that used to reside in Iraq.

Iran and Syria cooperating with Saddam and Iraq? That'd be like John Elway and Joe Montana cooperating with George Plimpton. You guys' gossamer-thin attempts to 'prove' what the world dismissed years ago would be cute if you weren't defending a chimp. Or is that "chump?"

That's not what I said. There were many reports of trucks crossing the Syrian border once U.S. troops entered the country. Those trucks included much of Saddam's immediate family. I'm not defending anyone. I'm simply stating that since there was broad bi-partisan belief that there was WMD in Iraq, maybe there was some truth to it.

Nice to see that your mind is open, Supe. If there were chemical weapons transferred to Iran or Syria, the intelligent thing would be to research their possible whereabouts, rather than be a partisan moron with your head in the sand.

Fair enough. I don't doubt Saddam had, or at least wanted, chemical weapons. If I were in his situation, with his inclinations, I would have bought every barrel of chemical weaponry I could get my hands on. Whether I knew how to use it or not. And I'm sure that's what he did. Heck, there are probably hundreds of gallons of hydrosulfuric acid in Cuba. Does that make us fearful of Castro? I do not think Saddam was a threat. Not of any consequence.

But yeah, there might have been some barrels crossing into Syria. Sure. Carry on.

I'm still reeling from your apparent position that the money supply should not grow, or that some other mechanism besides the Fed should be in charge of that. Over the years, I have developed quite an appreciation for the "control rod" effect the Fed does/can apply to our economic performance such as inflation and interest rates. Not you, I guess?

Chump... Oh sorry, Supe,

Have you forgotten that Iraq sent all their front line fighters to Iran not that long ago? They were trying to cooperate and save their weapons then, so please tell me that they would not do the same thing now?

Its been proven that loads of things were "spirited" to Syria in advance of the invasion and more than enough evidence that a good part of it was WMD.

Someday we will have the last laugh in this, and we just hope that its not Israel that is nuked out of existance with product supplied from Iraq to Iran and Syria that does it.

10,000 dead kurds would disagree with you supe. They were gassed and died where they fell.
Very well documented and no one doubts it at all, except for the fringe wackos.

Hydrosulfuric acid? You mean hydrogen sulfide?

Not effective at all as a weapon unless the victim is in an enclosed room.
I work with the stuff on a daily basis, and even wear an H2S monitor at all times at work.

Now Hydrofluoric acid, that would be a different story. I'm certified to work with it and have for many years.

Neither one can even come close to compare as far as killing power to the stuff that sadam used against the kurds.
Sarin gas can kill at very low concentrations (0.01 milligram per kilogram of body weight ). HF and H2S both need extremely high concentrations in comparison to kill.

Sadam had WMDs at one time that we know. He seemed to act like he had them to the very end. It was reasonable to assume he had them in 2003. We only found bits and pieces here and there in Iraq after all of our searching?

Remember we had Sadam in custody for a long time. It is reasonable to assume that we soaked him like a teabag to get any information that he had. Bush Politically would have revealed any information regarding WMDs that Sadam had as justification for his military adventure in Iraq. No information has surfaced to that effect.

Sadam did hide his Airforce in Iran in Gulf War 1. Many of the Bathists did go to Syria to hide out. As we know there is no love lost between the Sunni and ****ies.

Maybe the expertise to concoct WMDs was what was sent off to Syria?
