ANy Way to Hook My Treo to my Laptop and Use it to Get Online?
With my Treo Palm I can get on-line and I would like to plug it into my Laptop when I travel so I wouldn't need to use dial up or worry about a wireless hook-up in the hotel or airport. Is there a way to use my Treo Palm as a Proxy Server for my Laptop?

you should be able to do it via Bluetooth, or USB cable.

Which model do you have? I use my Treo 680 (and previously my 650) all of the time for this.
Best way is with Bluetooth. If you do not have it installed on your laptop, a bluetooth USB dongle is usually about $15. Blue Soleil is some of the best software around. Here is Palms webpage on the subject of both Bluetooth and USB DUN (Dial up networking). http://www.palm.com/us/support/DUN/index.html If you have a palm based Treo, http://mobile-stream.com/ makes a USB software patch for the Treos which allows USB DUN on any of Treo models. http://mobile-stream.com/usbmodem.html Supported models: palm Treo 755p (USB only) palm Treo 700p palm Treo 680 palmOne Treo 650 palmOne Treo 600 They also have a Windows Mobile Version, http://mobile-stream.com/usbmodem_wm.html. They support the palm Treo 700w, palm Treo 700wx although there are also user reports of the palm Treo 750v working. |
