Foo Fighters

Well, at least I got you to look :p.

Just trying to get my mind off of my 911. Did some major oil leak fixes that required the removal of the chains, et al. and after the car was warm, a steady weird noise developed. At the moment I am sick to my stomach.

Anyway, I was a t lunch with my parents today and we were sitting next to a younger couple that had a baby. The guy had dark longer hair and was wearing a baseball hat. He also had the same tattoos on each upper arm. He looked familiar, but did not give it too much thought. My parents and I got on the subject of appearance and tattoos. I mentioned to them that he looked familiar and gave them a lecture on my generation.

Well, I knew I was right, Dave Grohl and his beautiful wife and baby were sitting next to us at CPK. Next time I see them, I'll have to apologize to them for my parents behavior . I guess the thing that threw me off, was that he was not chewing gum!

Dave

Who's David Grohl? Is he in the band (I'm guessing)?

It probably wasn't your parents' place to openly comment about it, but I agree with them that tattoos are pretty stupid, IMHO. I can't help but "knock someone down" a few notches on the first-impression scale if they've got ink. Right or wrong, I can't help but assign a few "idiot" points per square inch of artificial color. Whatever.

I haven't heard a single good reason yet why someone should get one. If I ever do hear one, maybe I'll consider changing my position, but I haven't yet heard such a "good reason" to vandalize my own body.

BTW Foo Fighters suck anyway (McMusic, IMO), but still kinda' cool experience that you got to see someone associated with the band if that's your thing.

The way that guy screams (sings) I'm surprised he can talk! I was really into the FF about ten years ago and since then my interest has really waned. I still like the earlier stuff though.

Before McCartney was in Wings he was in another band. Grohl was in another one too. Who'd a thunk it?

My friend Gary plays in a big 'ol famous rock band as a percussionist. You know, bongos, congas, HTS. He got a tattoo of his wedding ring on his finger, because wearing the ring at work hurt his hand. I thought that was a pretty good reason.

I think there is a perfectly good use for a tattoo, especially if your a government enity and want to tattoo a number on a person as a means of identification.

I guess I will chalk this one up to freedom of expression, not my cup of tea but I don't mind it so much... My brother died a few years ago and I have toyed with the idea of having his name and dates tattooed on my bicep.

However,

I saw this hot chick (really hot) at the supermarket with a tattoo of a vine running from her ankles to her wrists with flowers and all, it was well done but still looks stupid and IMHO detracted from her natural beauty.

At the same supermarket I was in line behind a guy in his late twenties/early thirties that was a walking cartoon.
Goofy non related tats from neck to wrists to ankles... check
Baggy blue jean shorts that hang half way between knees and ankles... check
Over sized white T shirt... check
Baseball cap on sideways... check
Yapping on cell-phone sharing his conversation with everyone in line... check
What a clown, and he thought he was so cool.

And the"My generation" thing, every generation has fashions as it grows up... problem being tats don't go away. I threw out my bell bottom jeans and flowered shirts, can't do that with a tat when you grow up.
My generation had a popular song that said "hope I die before I get old"... well that didn't work out for most of us.;)

Or some nitwit on the Early Registry Board posted pics of himself with a big ole Porsche Shield tattooed on himself. What amazed me is how the Jackie O set over there ouuuued and awwwed over it.

And why are we fighting Foo? What has Foo ever done to us? Can't we all just get along?

Porsche-O-Phile 09-08-2007 11:44 AM

It was cool for the Blues Brothers though - before "tats" became totally cliche.

I wasn't really trying to rehash a discussion on tattoos and I really don't get too excited around celebrities. I was in a bad mood over the outcome of my car and was trying to get my mind off of it.

Craig - at least your "Thug Life" is on your stomach. I really regret having it tattooed on my forehead.

scottmandue 09-08-2007 12:27 PM

On the other hand I'm very happy with my "exit only" tat I got on my a$$! :D

slodave 09-08-2007 12:36 PM

Well, I was going to go work on my car, but I think I'll head over to the tattoo shop instead. I was thinking about getting "Cratch Smacker" tattooed in a prominent location. Any ideas?

scottmandue 09-08-2007 01:19 PM

All the real cool people are getting facial tats.

Jims5543 09-08-2007 05:40 PM

My 82 year old Grandmother just got ink on her upper arm.

Tattoo's jumped the shark before the ink could dry.

They are still fighting Foo after all these years? I would have thought they would have won by now.

Yeah, and his old buddy the bass player is now damn near bald, wears a three piece suit to work, and is a major player in our state's Democratic party. Good thing neither one of them ever learned to shoot...

Here's Grohl running past us when he went into the crowd when FF opened for The Police @ Dodger Stadium earlier this year.
