Brake pads for a 65 Mustang?
My dad's 65 Mustang has factory front disc brakes and they don't bite very well--it needs a pretty good foot to get it to stop hard. I was wondering if this could be a simple pad swap to a softer pad. Anyone have experience with this?

My 65 w 289 had drum brakes front which I converted to Disc's. It also did not have power assist, which meant it took a lot of effort to make them work. I would think that would be your answer. It also had a single cylinder fluid reservoir. There are upgrades from later models for all these problems, don't know the part no's but I'm sure there are good Mustang sites on the web where you can get them.
My car also did not have power steering. Boy that sucked. I should've upgraded that.

The brakes should be the old Kelsey Hayes style disc brakes (four piston caliper). Do you know if he is using semi-metallic brake pads or ceramic pads? Regardless, I would check with either Stainless Steel Brake Company (http://www.stainlesssteelbrakes.com/) or Mustang's Plus (http://www.mustangsplus.com).
My 66 has semi-metallic brake pads (and NO power brakes) and the car will stop on a dime. I also have cross-drilled rotors but that only helps cool the rotors quicker than a stock rotor.
