Need some insurance co. help.

My 330i got rear ended badly over two weeks ago. At-fault driver had State Farm and they immediately agreed to take care of everything. I took my car to the dealer that night, right after I got tapped. SF's adjuster has had to go out there a few times to approve stuff as the dealer found new stuff that needed replacing. Dealer sent the car to body shop yesterday and body shop says adjuster is coming out tomorrow to look over estimate and approve supplement. He says it should be done by middle of next week. This will be almost a month without my car and I'm getting steamed about it. I'm not supposed to be taking the 993 or bike to work for my own insur. reasons and sharing the lady's MINI is getting to be a hassle. Can I ask SF for some kind of comp. or a rental car? I'd rather have the cash, as this is aggravation. But I could use a rental instead. Do they do this kind of stuff?

I think if her ins. co. has a RAC provision and she's at fault, they pay for your rental.

At least that's what I had happen to me a few years ago (got t-boned in a parking lot by an inattentive blue-hair that ran a stop sign).

If you are deprived of the use of your vehicle and you are not at fault, you are entitled to a rental. Just ask and it shouldn't be a problem. It's one of the things the at-fault driver paid premiums for.

If you had been at fault, you would have to have rental coverage on your policy to get a rental car.

Ok, SF just set up a rental for me at Enterprise right by my house, which, of course, closes at 6:00. So I'll have to try tomorrow morning. I'd rather get some cash for my troubles.

Like the others have said, you are entitled to a rental car until your car is fixed. Call them now! For the rest of you, a rental car rider on your insurance is less than $10 per year and well worth it if you don't have back up transportation.

Don't forget to ask for Diminished value.... your car is worth less due to the insured's actions.

How bad is the damage? Just a rear bumper cover or are other body panels involved?

Do I have to have diminished value on my own policy for the SF to give me the same coverage? BMW dealer bill was $5200 and that was for entire new exhaust system and manifolds. I still need a new bumper and paint for that. Probably another $1500 or so.

So I hurried to get to Enterprise before 6:00 when they close and - ta da - out of cars. I soooo wanted to pull this job on them:
