$2000 for a used set of fake Fuchs???

Weird stuff happens in the used parts section from time to time, but this takes the cake.

Creative advertising and editing of ads for fun and profit? $500 EACH for used fake 16x8 Fuchs, wow.

Wow.

legion 09-11-2007 05:48 PM

I'll sell you a real set for that price...

85eurocarrera 09-11-2007 06:01 PM

:( As of tonight, we have agreed to this being a misunderstanding and he will refund my full payment.

Noah930 09-12-2007 08:06 AM

You're pretty generous, 85. I don't know how anyone "forgets" to list the fact that the items for sale are fakes/repros/aftermarket/whatever you want to call it. C'mon. The seller's a Porsche-guy. Like he's ignorant to the market value difference between authentic and copy? And he passes off the fact that he was fooled into originally paying more (than $500 apiece) for the fakes as justification for himself neglecting to mention this little nugget?

85eurocarrera 09-12-2007 08:19 AM

Belive me, when I opened the package I became a little sick to my stomach, and put them back in the box too embarrased to look at them. I trust he will be true to his word. (I have no choice, he has my dough).

azasadny 09-12-2007 09:26 AM

It said "aftermarket" in the description...

the 09-12-2007 09:34 AM

It didn't originally mention "aftermarket" in the description. He edited the ad to put that in later.

Seems shady to me, the editing and all. Plus, who asks $500 each for fake Fuchs? Anyone who knows anything about Porsches knows that NOBODY on Earth would KNOWINGLY pay $500 for a used fake 16x8.

Love this part:

More may be available. Guess that is depending on if the really sell and he can find more cheap fakes to flog on someone else.

85Euro, if he does not step up to the bar and fast I would contact the moderator of the forum and have a discussion about selling these.

Noah has been contacted and has expressed his interest and help in this matter.

Bob is, or as of yesterday been in Newfoundland. He says he will take care of this when he gets back in the country on the 17th. I trust he will. He is apparently the current president of the PCA club in NC, so he has to , right? PWDs...don't answer that:D

I have had some conversations with current and former PCA officers who stated they have had no problems with Bob. I am hoping this hasn't changed.

Stay Tuned..........

I'm glad I passed on it, he made a big stink about Paypal not paying the fee's etc. I just won a set of 7 x 8 x 16's on Ebay for $851.

BTW there was no mention of the aftermarket anywhere untill the wheels were sold, hence why the sold so fast...

How many years you've been with the PCA don't mean ***** nowadays

guys,
it's amazing how quickly the fire burns when someone doesn't have a chance to respond immediately....

to set the record straight: I posted them up based on the price I PAID for them. Sorry, maybe all you guys have great connections, but 8x16 Fuchs seem to be in a bit short supply right now. I forgot to put replica/aftermarket on them because I've had them so long, I simply forgot. Plus, with all that's been going on with getting ready for Targa Newfoundland, it just honestly slipped my mind....

When someone asked, I said they were replicas. He passed, and said I should have disclosed that, which I then immediately did on the post. I still got people asking to buy them, so I figured we were fine all around....it was disclosed they were replicas and all.

My bad here was just assuming that 85eurocarrera saw the change. I take full responsibility for that oversight...I should have mentioned it again in the conversation we had.

The bad part here was I was trying to do too much before leaving for a 10 day racing event. All of you out there that race know what happens the week before you leave....never mind that we were getting 2 cars all the way to Newfoundland. Lesson learned: some things can wait until you have time to think things through....

Anyway, Joe and I have things worked out.

FYI, the OTHER set is the spare set I had for my car. For those of you that don't know, I totalled the 914 at Targa. Flipped end over end....so I don't need the spares anymore. I had 10 wheels total and I needed 6 for targa.....not anymore....

I've never met Bob in person, but have seen him posting on this board for years. Always been a stand up guy and I think he made an honest mistake.

Sorry to hear about the endo. I guess this stage 5 photo was at the start of the leg, but it looks like you already had taken some damage by this point.

You've got to get a better navigator! Didn't you almost end up in the water last year??

naro914 09-18-2007 08:08 AM

That picture was taken at the finish line. Bill Dunster - our crew and owner of Autobahn Collision here in Charlotte - spent 2 days pulling the body and chassis to get it drivable. It actually drove pretty well, though the entire chassis is twisted and cracked at the seams.

Here's how it looked when we got out of it....

btw, my wife Nadine is my navigator. This was in no way her fault, it was a slippery bridge that she told me about and said to slow down. I did actually, guess just not enough.... 5 other cars went off in the same spot before the marshalls at the top of the hill slowed everyone way down. Even then, most lost control across that bridge....

The guy that DID go in water last year was someone else, though I did skid a little last year (going too fast) and came close. Picture a downhill road, in terrible condition coming to a T. 10 feet off the road is ocean. Gravel is a bad thing when it's in the braking and turning zone. We were fine, the 944 last year was not....

cashflyer 09-18-2007 08:19 AM

Wow... Bill done a great job to pull that back into a drivable condition! Parts car for next year!!

I didn't know Nadine was your navigator. Good for her! My wife also tells me where to go, but it usually has nothing to do with the car.
